Wow it’s been a busy time with Younique so I’ve fallen a bit behind again…
So for today’s update – there are new July Kudos this month that look awesome, new members in my company, and of course the big news of the week (month or even year where Younique is concerned…) is that we launched our new 3D Fiber Lashes+.
EPIC NEWS FIRST
It’s been all go the past few weeks so I’ve not had time to do the My Week in Younique updates.Since July 1, 2015 it’s been all about the new mascara. I’ve already blogged quite a bit about the epic news and about how the mascara launched earlier this week. It was a crazy kind of cool and my first real, proper Younique product launch since joining last year.
Get smitten with this Adorably Enamored Trio – this month’s kudos features two exclusive mineral pigments – Adorable and Enamored and our lovely liner/shader brush – while supplies last!
Right now, until we sell one million 3D Fiber Lashes, you can grab yourself a presenters kit with FREE shipping. Also until that million is sold you’re getting TWO sets of the lashes too. One to keep and one to sell or sell both…
So if you want the makeup, but have no interest in selling or recruiting, you don’t have to. Take the makeup and run.
Or become a presenter and just shop through your own link to remain active… To continue to be an active Younique presenter all you need to do is sell $125 every three months. That’s it. That equates to: £80 GBP / $170 AUD / $192 NZD / 1991 MEX / $162 CAD). In Younique we talk about things being done in mascara so that’s approximately five mascaras every ninety days.
The company is getting bigger all the time. Very proud of Kelly and Karen for recruiting Team new mates this month.
Younique launches in Germany in just over one week and already we have had lots of interest from German lovelies hoping to get started as soon as we do. I’d especially love for fabulous, bi-lingual makeup lovers to #jointheAteam now.
UNTIL NEXT TIME…
That’s all I have time for but a new blog is on the way, hopefully this week about how running your Younique UK business may or may not effect your benefits if you’re claiming benefits like job seekers allowance etc. Will post as soon as I can!
Well I am literally two minutes off the Younique Mexico webinar about the upcoming, full launch there. Mexico is a great market for us, for a variety of reasons…
Here are some reasons and stats from a recent Younique email on the subject:
Mexico is the 6th largest direct sales market in the world 41 percent of Mexico direct sales are in the beauty category. Direct selling accounts for half of the Mexico beauty industry with eye products such as mascara and eye shadow accounting for 33 percent of all sales in the direct selling of makeup. That means hundreds of thousands of women could be waiting to try our most popular product—our 3D Fiber Lashes
….So that’s pretty exciting.
Going Mobile in Mexico!
In Mexico, the population is very “mobile”. In fact, 87% are accessing the Internet on their smart phones. Perhaps more interestingly, to me anyway, is that such a short per cent are using iPhones.
For some reason this surprised me…
In any event, the Younique Mexico launch is coming so I am already looking to sponsor some lovely ladies, and to #jointheAteam.
The Younique 999 Club
Like in the other markets, Younique has a sort of competition for the first 999 signups in a new market. When the UK launch happened in October 2014 – those 999 filled up in just twenty-six minutes!
I, sadly, wasn’t one of them – as I signed up a few weeks later (more like 12,000 as I recall, for the UK).
But we will have this opportunity for people joining in Germany and Mexico.
FYI: The German launch is now August 1st, and not July 1st, which is rather disappointing…but oh well.
Anyway the Younique Mexico launch will be slightly different than our usual “Recruit, Sell, Build” model – because we already launched product sales there.
For everyone who is not Mexican – Cinco De Mayo celebrates Mexico’s defeat over the France at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862 – so it’s only fitting that Younique celebrates it this year by launching its products in Mexico!
This is a perfect time to learn as much as you can about the business, try the products and get in early when we launch the opportunity to join as presenters.
My Younique by Thea business was in place from the day we started selling in the UK, and it felt exciting to be a part of it from its launch here. The sooner you can get on board with Younique the better.
As a result of the upcoming Younique launch to join the business in Mexico later this year, I am currently searching for any Latina and/or Spanish-speaking ladies who love makeup, and enjoy trying, applying and talking about it, who want to #jointheAteam!
If you want to work from home, a coffee shop, by the pool, at the beach, or anywhere really, then Younique is a way to do just that.
If you want to have more time to spend with your family, friends or whoever you choose, by running your own company in your own time and way, with Younique, you can.
It is a super fun business to be in! It empowers women around the globe to both – look and feel – beautiful on the inside and out.
Externally the makeup will enhance your beauty. Internally you can feel empowered for running your own business and helping other women achieve their goals too. Younique encourages us all to be our best selves. It’s a wonderful challenge. It’s always changing and so exciting. My skin feels great and that makes me feel more sexy. I think you will love it too.
If you’re in Mexico and need a Younique sponsor to sign up with – then I say “Welcome”. I’d love to hear from you by email – younique (at) theanewcomb.co.uk if you’re interested or if you have any more questions about how Younique works.
Working on a Spanish Translation for this page now!
Younique Launches in Germany Soon Too!
Before we launch the ability to Join Younique as a presenter in Mexico, we’ll be launching in Germany in July. So I’d love to speak to anyone in Germany who’s interested in joining Younique there. I’ve already got interest from German ladies in Berlin and Hamburg. So if you’re in Germany or Mexico and looking for a sponsor, I’d be happy to be that for you!
Well, I’ve been a Younique Presenter and Sponsor for over six month now. It’s been quite a ride – that’s for sure!
Honestly? It’s been filled with some pretty high highs and, truth be told, some disappointing lows.
But, do you know what? Over all, I still love it. I am still 100% committed to continuing and moving up the ladder.
This (long) blog will highlight a bit more, why and some discoveries I’ve been making along the way.
“THERE IS NO I IN TEAM”
The trick, in my opinion, with Younique is attracting the right kind of team mates. To date I’ve had about fourteen team members (I think) in total. Now there are maybe eight, including me, and three of those are marked to become “inactive” at the end of the month which is hard to witness.
Out of those three, ONE, I believe, will pull it out of the bag and continue. The others will remain to be seen. (I suspect they’ll drop off.)
That has been the biggest hurdle, for me, in running my Younique business. I don’t find sales hard. I get them regularly. Sure I could use more, but I manage to “qualify” every month, it’s not hard. (Most of my sales are strangers not family and friends.)
I don’t find recruiting hard. I have gotten new team mates every month just about. What I have found challenging is sourcing recruits who are 100% committed to making it to the top! NO MATTER WHAT!!
I thought I had some of those before, they were so excited to join. They started out so strong and so positive, but they didn’t turn out to be. They got side-tracked or just gave up. They dropped off.
So right now it appears to be just ONE out of EVERYONE I have had the pleasuring of sponsoring who seems to want it, really want it.
One A-teamer who has the time, the focus, the commitment and tenacity to truly make it happen.
One who appears to want to learn, as much as humanly possible, about the business, about the products, and to experiment with looks and social media channels.
That’s the kind of person I need on my team in order to promote up the ladder and a few more just like her, but as the saying goes…
“IT’S A NUMBERS GAME”
One video I watched last week was by US Black Status Presenter Michelle Bell (who I get to meet tomorrow here in Scotland; more on that in a minute). She talked about the numbers and odds of success in this business. The rule of thirds as it were.
If you recruit ten, maybe three will do something with it. I believe I have three who will – just like she says.
Two of the three though have jobs and kids (one grandkids) etc getting in the way, and so their focus is not on building a Younique business.
That’s ok. They still can have a pretty solid and fun business – simply achieving yellow and not promoting further up the ladder. Am still happy to have them on my team. I truly am.
But in many ways, the ideal team mate is one who is ambitious, who pushes through any negativity that may arise, or down days that come (and both do happen regularly) to keep laying foundations for a successful business in the long term. Ones who will continue to work even when seeing no results coming in. That’s the real challenge! Putting in so much time and effort and not getting cheesed off when you’re not getting immediate results.
Watching my own team from the side lines, there has been no consistency for most of them and that’s been frustrating. I can’t make them post daily, or every other day, I can’t make them love their business. I can only lead the horse to water – beyond that, it’s up to them.
I found found that consistency is the key. Posting about the business regularly. Not always sharing links but in sharing the love of the business! In fact, truth be told, I seldom post any links. My “selling” is really just through my enthusiasm! That’s infectious!
That’s where I find my Younique sales “easy” while the others find it more difficult.
One reason it’s hard for them is because they’re telling themselves it’s “hard” or that “there is so much competition now”. I’ve heard many of them say this to me.
Secondly, they’re not being consistent with talking about the business excitedly and positively DAILY.
Back to the whole “hard” thing. To me, Ford had it right. So much of our success boils down to our thinking.
There are probably hundreds of Younique presenters in Glasgow (or Central Scotland) but I never give any of them a single thought. Why would I? I have to keep my eye on my own business.
Sure, occasionally, I check out the competition on social media to see how they’re marketing their own Younique business, but really their business is just that…Their business.
Also, I know that I will appeal to some people, and not to others. The same goes for my Y-Sisters.
There are some uplines I look at who just don’t “speak to me” the way others do. I get people saying “my friend is doing Younique too” and then they go and buy from me!
I’ve probably had friends go buy from someone else. That’s the nature of the beast.
To be a success in Younique (which I am certainly striving to be), I believe you need to be positive, enthusiastic and consistent in your posting and in your attitude.
I manage to post about Younique every single day – on my various channels. Some days I do so on every channel – other days on one or two (e.g. Twitter @newthea and Google+).
But every day I am putting something positive out there about this fabulous Younique Opportunity. EVERY DAY!!
I try to blog every week – sometimes more than once. It is my hope that with this very blog, I can educate and communicate with those who are thinking about buying Younique products, like our 3D Fiber Lashes or who are considering joining Younique and needing a sponsor.
6 MONTHS DOWN – CURRENT OUTLOOK
So it’s been six months, how do I feel? Well, I already mentioned the team thing’s been a real challenge. As I said, I have no trouble recruiting team mates at all, and never have from the very start, but finding ones who want to stay in the business, who love it as much as I do, and are committed to building a team – that’s been difficult.
If you’re thinking of joining Younique, I am 100% certain you’ll experience a similar thing. The challenges and frustrations but it can teach you a lot about yourself and your own team management too! So that’s perhaps a good thing.
Remember that it’s a numbers game, but it is also important to work out who your “ideal recruit” is, and then how to attract them, by the messages you’re putting out there.
While I am happy to have team mates that just want to buy the makeup for themselves – and not sell or recruit – the real gold is in the business builders with the same dream as me.
HAVE YOU MADE MUCH MONEY?
In short? I’ll be honest with you, no, not at all. Not what you want to hear, but I vowed to be as transparent as possible from the outset of My Week in Younique posts.
To be clear….Some months I’ve done pretty well. One month it paid the mortgage. Woot Woot!
Some months I haven’t done good commission wise at all. January was paltry!
The real reason I’ve not made much money with Younique is because there is a real temptation of plowing all the earnings back into the business.
In the first few months with Younique, I made a conscious decision to ensure that I had every single Younique product. I feel it’s essential to run a good business I need to have personally tried them all. I need to be able to show the products, talk about them, and blog about them here.
So a lot of my commissions get spent. Now I don’t have every colour, but I have all Younique products.
I also use the products every day. I genuinely love the products which also probably helps me sell it. That passion comes through in everyone I speak with. Just ask them! Once I start going, I don’t shut up!! But that’s also why I don’t have a tone of “profit”.
HOW’S LIFE BETTER WITH YOUNIQUE?
Another benefit to joining Younique is that I have made some new friends through the business.
Both on my upline (r) team mates and downline too.
People I can talk to about the business, ask questions, get advice or give advice too.
I am a Social Media Trainer who trains businesses every day – so I enjoy a business that allows me to be a mentor for my team mates if they need one! (Some have asked for help and training and others don’t take me up on the offer).
I had a 4-hour video call with one of my newest recruits, Kelly, on Friday. FOUR HOURS! Can you believe that? Talking about the products, about social media best practices, and about the business challenges and the joys too.
That was a real pleasure. I think we could have kept right on talking had it not gotten to be 1am! So this business really is FUN but…
YOUNIQUE IS NOT FOR EVERYONE
I have seen, first hand, that Younique is not for everyone. Some I sponsored tried it, and got cheesed off, for one reason or another. Some had health issues come up. Some had family or job things get in the way.
But you know what? The people that had these sorts of obstacles put them off really just didn’t love the business enough to want to make it work. When you do really want something so bad, you’re 100% committed to it – in spite of the challenges.
US BLACK STATUS TRAINING
Dozens of Younique Black Status presenters do videos and training. They have groups or websites to help train their downlines to promote.
I watch them all the time. Well, tomorrow, four, US, Younique Black Status Presenters are coming to Glasgow to have a dinner and share pearls of wisdom. I have volunteered to help out by signing people in.
It should be a fabulous event, and a chance to meet these Rock Stars in the flesh. So yes, that’s a real exciting Younique Opportunity for me.
CAN I HELP YOU?
If you have questions about joining Younique, then please get in touch with me here. Comment below or use the details on the top right.
Or if you want to #jointheAteamthem I’d love to have you (especially if you’re up for and committed to the Younique challenge! 😉
Though it’s been long, I do hope this update has given you something to think about – particularly if you’re interested in Younique as a possible “Plan Be” for yourself or even to run it as a full time business.
Though it’s not an easy business, there is no “get rich quick” opportunity here, I have absolutely loved being a presenter and sponsor to a team in the US and the UK.
I can’t wait to have people join the team from Canada, Australia, New Zealand and soon Mexico, Germany too! Oh yeah, speaking of which, I think I have my first recruit there already. She’s Iranian, the room mate of a friend, and lives in Hamburg, Germany. She seems very excited. We’ll see what happens there…I’ll certainly keep you posted!
Tomorrow, Cinco Di Mayo we launch our products in Mexico! I’ll try to write more about that and the training tomorrow night.
