Well I am behind on the My Week in Younique updates, I know, so I thought I better write an update. Also for those who have been following along with MWY, the good news is that I’m just a few weeks away from my one-year anniversary, and I will be doing a very special blog on my Younique journey – one year in. So watch out for that.
What an exciting month September was! Though my own personal sales were half of what they were in August, my company’s sales were more than double – so that’s rather cool. In any event, I managed to hit pink (for only the second time in a year)!
Today, as the new months begins, we start fresh with a handful of ladies who’ve joined my company in the past week alone (three lovelies have joined me, one has joined Karen’s team, and one for Lucy too).
Lucy’s recruit, in the final minutes of September, qualified her as the first one in my company to reach Fast Start. We, #theAteam, as a group, were all so proud of Lucy for achieving her goal. She worked so hard and now gets a sweet charm and a Y-cash bonus to spend on heaps of makeup as she sees fit. I was so excited to splurge when I reached it myself in December. Not only that but Kelly now joins me as Pink. These two have been putting me to shame for the past few months so I better step up my game!
FREE Greeting Card
I now selling wonderful Phoenix Trading greeting cardswhich are made in the UK. So I will be giving anyone who chooses to buy Younique products directly from me the choice of any greeting card we sell. So if you’re buying a treat for yourself or for anyone else – I’ve got you covered. There are beautiful birthday cards, congratulations cards, wedding/anniversary, friendship and Christmas cards too! It’s up to you. Pick the one you want or I’ll pick one for you!
Bienvenido Younique México
Yesterday we officially launched in Mexico. Younique started selling products there, back on Cinco De Mayo (May 5), but from yesterday, we can recruit lovely Latinas to our teams! If you’re one, and want a sponsor, then please reach out. I’d love you to #jointheAteam now!
In other good news, we filled the triple digits club in seven hours – unlike Germany which took weeks to fill!
Younique News This Week
There are some big Younique changes happening – particularly for us here in the UK…
1) The NFR Limits are Now Lifted!!
Now that the “Not for Resale” (NFR) limits have lifted, we’re able to “Cash & Carry” our 3D Fiber Lashes (or any Younique products) now! FYI I currently have half a dozen sets in stock, so please message me (or comment below) if you want one. You can also call me to discuss on 0141 416 1492. (Remember if yo do order anything from me direct, you get a free greeting card of your choice from the cards that are found here)
2) Exciting: Shipping Costs Lowered
So pleased to announce that though the shipping fee of £6.95 remains active now you qualify for FREE SHIPPING by spending less on Younique products. The new rate to reach FREE shipping is now anything over £75.00. How awesome is that?
Incidentally, according to the support desk this afternoon, “Mexican shipping has also changed. $1-$2,499 MXN will cost $75 to ship Anything above that is free.”
3) Younique Shipping Time
Some of the team members have noticed that their orders are shipping faster. I had two, 3D mascara UK orders last month which were ordered just one day apart, and there was a strange situation whereby the second order got to the UK faster than the first!
In any event, am so glad they’re getting those UK orders here faster. We eagerly await at Younique European hub to improve it even more! I ordered the Cloud 9 collection for myself on September 30th which features all six of our new Younique products – plus a 3D Fiber Lashes mascara too – so I can’t wait for that to arrive! Thanks for stopping by.
I’ve fallen behind in my Splurge purchases and need to get the most recent three so it’s most handy that this month it’s an opportunity to buy them on special offer in the Kudos here.
My Year in Younique
Well that’s it for another My Week in Younique update. As I said earlier, I’m working on a very transparent blog post about my year as a Younique presenter and sponsor. It’s going to be a good one (if I do say so myself).
As recently predicted in my new products post, it has been a busy September already, and we’re just approaching the half-way mark. So for this ‘My Week in Younique’ update I will update you on the new products, team efforts and remind you of this month’s Kudos!
Makeup Lovers Beware!
Firstly Younique is a dangerous business if you even kind of like makeup. I am not a crazy makeup fiend, and yet most of my profits get sucked back into the business. This month though I’ve refrained from buying the new collection that contains the six new Younique products (It’s called Cloud 9). I will get it, but I’ve set myself a personal target before I’ll allow myself to get it.
Very excited to try the new products. I believe a few of my team members have already picked it up – which has meant a solid start for the A team! Sept. On that note…
Qualified in 2 Days!
Three of my newest company members had qualified in two days this month. It’s best month-launch so far, I think. To “qualify” a Younique presenter needs to sell 125 PRS which is approximately $125 UK/£85 UK.
Each month, I aim to sell that, but we really only need to sell that in a 90-day period. The good news for us to qualify we can spend the money on ourselves – so for instance, if I were to buy the aforementioned collection, I’d qualify for 90 days. (SeeIf you Love Makeup, Don’t Become a Younique Presenter)! Again though I aim to sell way more than that every month.
Finding Great Staff
It has taken almost a year to attract people to this business that truly love and want to work it and learn as much as they can.
For every ten or so that I’ve recruited, about three have done anything at all with it.
That’s the most challenging aspect of the business – recruiting and having them drop off. I say this because I don’t want people to think this is a get-rich-fast business. Some people do, for sure, but they by far the minority. Younique takes effort, time, persistence, consistency, positivity, passion and resilience. So if you do #jointheAteam or someone else’s you’ll start to see that Younique is not for everyone. So it will be better to focus the energy on the ones who aim to rock it.
Right now I am so proud of my rockstars – Lucy, Kelly and Louise – who are all kicking my @ss in sales so far. At least through the Younique site. I’m doing very well on mascara sales – to both strangers through the site and ordering direct through me.
Wow, just as I am writing this post I sold another set of the 3D Fiber Lashes! Love it when that happens! These 3D Fiber Lashes literally sell themselves. At least for me they do! 11 months on in this business and it gets easier and easier for me but it’s been a very slow build. Some Youniques are the Hare, but I am the Tortoise.
Younique September Kissable Kudos
Just a wee reminder that this month the Kudos are Kiss-tastic. You can get three lip stains and a lip gloss in a bundle as seen in the picture. I personally love the lip stains that I have, and really want the purple one – so may just treat myself. Also in case you’re wondering, my fave Lucrative Lip Gloss is Lavish.
So that wraps up another My Week in Younique I think. I joined October 16th so we’re fast approaching my one-year anniversary of being Younique and I love it more and more as days go by. As I always say “Younique’s not for everyone” but it is for me!
Any questions about the products or joining my team, please feel free to reach out. All details are above or if you’re in the UK ring 0141 416 1492 or in the US 408 353 0434. We can chat, old school!
Well it’s high time to update you on my progress in another scintillating instalment of “My Week in Younique” (LOL!)
It has been a busy few weeks for myself and some of my team mates, in the run up to launching products in Germany, SIX brand new Younique products, and new catalogs, collections/sets and kudos too! Phew. Where to start…?
6 New Younique Products
There has been a lot of excitement that has been building in the run-up to the new products being released today. Last week, I wrote a blog about the six, new Younique productslaunching today. You can see that I was pretty excited about a few of them – in particular the lip sticks, liquid foundation and the new palette of eye shadows (3 options). If you check out the post you can see videos about all six Younique products.
New Younique Collections & Sets
Also very exciting Younique wise, is that with every new product launch there are new collections to be had. Yippeee!
Younique Collections are a great value and way to save some real money. I, personally, get very excited when collections get released and I always buy at least one!
This time there is one called Cloud Nine Collection (pictured) – which features all six new products. So that will be my firs investment I suspect 🙂
Each month Younique offers new “kudos” (which are customer perks). They might be limited edition products, or special bundles, and this month it is…and this month we have a crackin’ deal…
More Team Challenges – This is SERIOUS
Here’s where I get down to the nitty gritty and tell you some cold, hard truths, from my own perspective…and I say this practically every My Week in Younique update, but in case you’re new to my blog, let me just reiterate this business is not for everyone.
Each month new people #jointheAteam – while others drop out of my company. It can feel like a case of one step forward and three steps back, but I forge ahead.
I love this business and the products, so I am grateful to now have a handful of people who seem to love it as well. I guess the real challenge is getting everybody having an awesome month at the same time.
My August was pretty darn awesome (thanks mostly to strangers who stumble upon this blog! MWAH!), and my friend Fiona in Australia (she my first order to Oz – friend or otherwise! Exciting!)
Also my newest company rock star, Lucy W in England, also had a stellar month. She did amazingly-well. Like her upline, Kelly, She’s taken to Younique like a duck to water.
Whereas others before her have seemed to struggle with it. They struggle with getting sales, or maybe to find the time to actually “work the business” or whatever. So again this business is not for everyone.
For me to promote up the ladder with Younique – I need to have me, and all of my rock stars, to be doing very well in the same month, and that simply hasn’t happened. I have a good month – the team doesn’t. Or they do and I don’t. We just need to get in sync and we’d be laughing up the ladder!
While I do feel like I have a handful of women that love the business, (some of them even as much as I do), you need 10 or 20 women who are working the business seriously, in order to really promote anywhere with Younique. I promoted to Pink – only once and it’s been a challenge to even reach that ever since! S
There is no I in Team
Younique’s all about the team. Without it, you’re practically nothing! (NOTE: I mean if you’re hoping to do it as a proper business. You don’t need a team to recruit or sell – if you just want to be a hobbyist.)
Though I have recruited nearly a couple of dozen or so people this year, (since joining last October), about half of them have dropped off, or who do just enough to keep active status (approximately selling FOUR mascaras in 90 days).
This is why it is a challenging business and not for the weak, fainthearted or easily distracted or discouraged. In fact, from my perspective, Younique, is almost a textbook definition of a discouraging challenge. By that I mean this business will test you in so many ways – with your own commitment, your friends (lack of support or even criticising or avoiding you), customers (unhappy, not paying, being fickle), team mates, other presenters online habits, postal issues – etc. It can feel like it’s full time work for a part time wage sometimes.
If it’s not one thing, it’s another. So you have to have an inner strength and inner belief – particularly on those days when self-doubt is plaguing your brain and you feel like packing-it-in. And believe me we all have moments of self-doubt in this business. It’s par for the course. The trick is to persevere and carry on regardless.
I am and I am glad I am because it’s building slow and steady. There are some Younique presenters who are the hare whereas I am the tortoise. In it for the long haul, building slowly slowly. Slow and steady wins the race! There is little that beats the excitement of either sleeping or being out somewhere and seeing an order has come in, and three hours later being paid. That, rocks!
My Week in Younique Series
This wraps up another My Week in Younique instalment which I’ve been doing since just after I joined. I try to document my peaks and valleys truthfully. Feel free to reach out to me – wherever you are in the world – if you have specific questions. Do peruse my other posts – because I do try to answer the questions here on the blog.
And don’t forget, if you’re in the UK and interested in 3D Fiber Lashes+ or indeed any of the products we sell – please get in touch as I can save you money on shipping fees. I also offer FREE LOCAL DELIVERY if you’re near Glasgow.
Well, here we are again with another instalment of ‘My Week in Younique’ – where I candidly share my experiences of being a Younique presenter and sponsor…This update covers Younique’s August Kudos, promotions (or lack thereof), and the German launch.
In July managed to get over 1000 in PRS but was aiming for 10,000 so came up a little short.
You may have read on my blog that I’d hoped to hit green (10k) or blue (4k) but didn’t even manage pink (2k). Better luck this month, eh? Younique’s a challenging business – to be sure. But I still love it. In fact, earlier this week, I wrote a blog about what Younique is and what it’s not. If you’re thinking of joining it might be worth perusing it…
Younique’s August Kudos
This month’s Kudos is the “Three for Me Bundle”> Bronze. Brighten. Brag a little – which looks really nice. You can pick up a bronzer, an eye liner and for the first time ever – a lipstick called “Opulence”. Exciting times ahead me thinks (lipsticks on the horizon). I used to wear lipstick myself but ever since joining younique, I’ve only worn our lip glosses and stains so will be interesting to see the new product.
New Company Congrats
It’s not like me to not be the top seller in my company but this month the A-Team’s been rocking it – in particular the newest teamie Lucy who had the top sales and Kelly her upline. They both did fabulous. There was only one mascara between them…
Meanwhile, I came in third out of the thirteen of us…I did have a lovely last minute sale in the final hours of the month — from a stranger in Glasgow. Often my website sales are in England (and not Scotland where I live most of the year) or in various states…So it was nice to get a buyer in Glasgow for a change!
Younique’s German Launch
Yesterday we finally launched in Germany. I can’t wait to get some German recruits to #jointheAteam – hopefully soon. I did have a few emails from ladies in Germany ages ago now – but it’s been very quiet of late so will need to reach out to see if they’re still interested. In any event it’s exciting we launched in Germany now and next stop it’s Mexico in October.
Kit Snatchers Wanted
Right now, until we sell a million of our new 3D Fiber Lashes+ Mascara – you can pick up a ton of makeup with free shipping. No selling or recruiting needed. Just grab the makeup and go. Plus right now you get not one set of Younique’s Mascara but 2 sets of the 3D Lashes! How great is that? If I can get three people to grab a kit, then I can be a part of the +You movement and score myself a charm. So help me out by grabbing some makeup now! 🙂 It’s a win/win!
Younique UK Orders – Save on Shipping
Just a reminder if you’re in the UK, you can order through me directly to save yourself some money.
The 3D mascaras run £23.00, and I offer FREE local delivery in Glasgow – or else it’s £3.50 to anywhere in the UK.
As a mascara to the UK will run you £6.95 for shipping (by courier from Utah), buying through me saves you £3.45.
Please contact me direct for more info on 3DLashes @ youniquebythea dot com.
Any other questions get in touch on that same address OK?
Well I am back with another update. I’d let the weekly updates lapse a little but striving to get them back onto a more regular basis. Last time was a month update (oops).
In my last blog post I talked a little about our expansion into Mexico – following a webinar that I was on the line for this week.
Younique Has “Epic” News
So it appears we have some majorly big news coming this week – July 1st. I have no idea what it is. I can’t even come up any with any possible theories of what it might be. I’m completely stumped…
What could be “Game-changing. Revolutionary. Ground-breaking”? I do love how good Younique is when teasing their news. They always seem to be hatching some interesting plans.
I hope it lives up to the hype! The email says we’ll not be disappointed and that Younique co-founder Melanie Huscroft will spare no details on the webinar in four days. Can’t wait to see what she’s got to reveal! I will let you know after the webinar.
Younique launches in Mexico October 1, 2015. From that webinar, it sounds like a very exciting country to expand to – given their mobile proliferation and love of makeup there! Would love some lovely Mexicans to #jointheAteam! Maybe I should use this launch an excuse to head south of the border next time I am in California? A little sunbathing, recruiting excursion?
While we’re we are on the subject of Younique expansion into other markets, just a wee reminder, we are no longer launching in Germany in July – but rather August 1. I can’t wait as I have had interest from Germany for women to join Younique but they now have to wait one more month!
Get Thea to Green
Last month I had a cracker amount of sales. Best of the year to date. This month, June, has been a bit too quiet for my liking – to be honest.
I did sell out of the 3D mascaras, as I say, but there were few sales placed on my Younique by Thea website. I am determined to promote higher in July. Green if possible. So I plan to implement my Get Thea to Green campaign. It’s my birthday, you see, in July, and I’ve decided to say to family/friends “don’t buy anything for me – but shop for yourself or someone special” through my website.
This goes for anyone looking to buy 3D fiber lash mascaras, lip stains, eye shadows or other Younique products!
Buy in July! Win/win. They get wonderful naturally-based makeup and products, and I hopefully sell 10,000 USD (Over #£6,300) in order to promote. That said #theAteam needs to sell too (and qualify) in order for me to progress up to Green. Frankly it’s a lofty goal but I am going for it!
Pay for Younique with Paypal!
This morning I woke up to news that makes me so happy. As I am someone who runs their Younique business from both the US and the UK – I use different credit cards to purchase products. For some reason, I’ve had issues using my Californian card and details. I had to resort to sending a friend in Ohio money via Paypal so she could use her card. It was very frustrating, so much so, I actually complained and asked support to pass on my suggestion to the top man Derek, and allow PayPal payments (dated May 18)!
Anyway, around a month later, the news arrives, that we now can! Am not saying it was due to my suggestions – but regardless, I am over the moon! I look forward to trying it later to buy some new 3D Fiber Lashes because I am sold out, again!
I’ve been building websites (some of them ecommerce) for TWENTY YEARS now, so I felt confident in my suggestion to him. I’d like to give some other pointers but that’s perhaps best saved for another day and time 😉
My Upline Says “Goodbye” to Younique
On a not too terribly surprising note, my upline has decided to leave Younique. She, like many started out full of fire, shooting for Black and then it slowly petered out. She’s got other things to focus on, a book, and some other MLM type things (I think?) but like several of my own team – she’s decided it’s not for her. This business is not for everyone. I totally get it.
We in the UK are just about eight months down the line, and I still love Younique, the products and the business, and am still 100% committed – but like everything in life, it’s all “subject to change”.
Well another week or so has passed, it’s been decidedly mixed. Was fairly quiet for the whole first week then BAM! A rush – like buses – all coming at once.
Well Done Kel!
Great news, Kelly, one of my newest rock star recruits in England, has gone Yellow. She’s only the second person in my team who has managed to do so! I am sooo very proud of her! Onwards she goes!
She seems to want to “work it” more than anyone else presently on my entire team. On maternity leave, she really aims to build a business which will allow her to spend more time at home raising the children. Like me, though, she’s aiming for the top with Younique.
Also last week, as I mentioned in the last My Week in Younique (6 mos update), I attended a Younique event in Glasgow with nearly 150 of my fellow y-sisters. Because I have an American accent, I occasionally got mistaken for being one of the Black Younique presenters, which of course I’m not (yet). Perhaps one day…
If I am being honest, it was disappointing to me that I had no team mates there. I was surrounded by other people who had their teamies around ’em, but a lot was said about teams in general that did make me feel a bit better.
I have often felt that with my Younique business that you can lead the team to the watering hole, but you can’t make them drink anything. By that, I mean I can’t force, prod or push people to promote their business or to want to learn as much as they can. That’s gotta be down to them.
I was glad I went to the event. It was infectious being in the room with people at all Younique levels – from the newbies to the top dogs – as it were…It was an impressive amount of talent and inspirational stories bouncing around the room. It made me want to work harder to go higher and farther than I have.
It was encouraging to hear the challenges that these Black Level ladies had with their businesses and teams. Stories of working 40,50.60 hours and then brining in something like $84. I have been there. Many people have, I suspect, and just gave up thinking “there’s no money in this” or “this is too hard” or some other excuse. But it’s a slow build in my opinion. Sure there are Younique exceptions. I heard some in that room last week, of people going far super fast, but it’s not my reality. Slow and steady wins the race for me. I am the tortoise not the hare.
A few really helpful conversations were had between myself and Shawna Flinkert (left selfie) Michelle Bell (right selfie). They, in many ways, were the highlight of the night for me.Shawna gave me a good tip. She said it something she heard from one of her team mates, I believe…”3,4,5″ – since people are so “busy” these days – ask them for a wee coffee and ask them to bring three friends. Show four products in five minutes. “Everyone has time for coffee” she says. What a great idea. I plan to try it.
Gotta get my 5 minute pitch down pat first though? Ha ha.
Michelle talked about the rule of thirds (or something like that). With MLMs, you need to build big teams and for every ten, only three will really work it.Of the three, probably just one will be a “rock star” (as I call them). I look at my team and I could see how this reflects the average in direct sales. It really does! The money really comes in with a team, continually recruiting, and training them to recruit too. I’m still learning and loving it.
Welcome to my latest team member Rebecca. Another English woman who has small children (or rather one) who she wants to have more time at home with. At the event, much time was spent talking about our “Why” – why we do the business we do.
For Rebecca it’s to be able to take her son to school and pick him up. She’s already done other Direct Sales businesses and she already knows the business model and that it takes a lot of work. I hope she’s as fantastic as I’d predict she is. She’s already a master-networker and is talking creatively about how she hopes to promote her own business locally in her area of Glasgow’s southside.
Before yesterday we had only known each other “online” through a mutual friend so it was fun to meet up in person and talk at length about Younique products, our goals within the company and our “Whys”. Though I don’t have any kids I do have a father I’d like to be supporting – so my “why” centers more around him!
3D Fiber Lashes
So I’ve just sold my last set of 3D Fiber Lashes and need to bulk order more. A few enquiries came in last night via this blog, also my Younique page, and some the night before via Facebook too.
For UK people who need a set of the fiber lashes, ordering direct through me can save them nearly four pounds. I order them in and will send out in the UK, so for people who want to save a bit of money and who aren’t in a hurry it’s worth reaching out to me here. I take payments usually through PayPal.
Most of my Younique mascara sales are to women in England. Thanks ladies!! So if you’re anywhere in the UK – order direct with me and save some money! Ring me on the number here on the website if you like. Preferably no later than 9pm.
Well, I’ve been a Younique Presenter and Sponsor for over six month now. It’s been quite a ride – that’s for sure!
Honestly? It’s been filled with some pretty high highs and, truth be told, some disappointing lows.
But, do you know what? Over all, I still love it. I am still 100% committed to continuing and moving up the ladder.
This (long) blog will highlight a bit more, why and some discoveries I’ve been making along the way.
“THERE IS NO I IN TEAM”
The trick, in my opinion, with Younique is attracting the right kind of team mates. To date I’ve had about fourteen team members (I think) in total. Now there are maybe eight, including me, and three of those are marked to become “inactive” at the end of the month which is hard to witness.
Out of those three, ONE, I believe, will pull it out of the bag and continue. The others will remain to be seen. (I suspect they’ll drop off.)
That has been the biggest hurdle, for me, in running my Younique business. I don’t find sales hard. I get them regularly. Sure I could use more, but I manage to “qualify” every month, it’s not hard. (Most of my sales are strangers not family and friends.)
I don’t find recruiting hard. I have gotten new team mates every month just about. What I have found challenging is sourcing recruits who are 100% committed to making it to the top! NO MATTER WHAT!!
I thought I had some of those before, they were so excited to join. They started out so strong and so positive, but they didn’t turn out to be. They got side-tracked or just gave up. They dropped off.
So right now it appears to be just ONE out of EVERYONE I have had the pleasuring of sponsoring who seems to want it, really want it.
One A-teamer who has the time, the focus, the commitment and tenacity to truly make it happen.
One who appears to want to learn, as much as humanly possible, about the business, about the products, and to experiment with looks and social media channels.
That’s the kind of person I need on my team in order to promote up the ladder and a few more just like her, but as the saying goes…
“IT’S A NUMBERS GAME”
One video I watched last week was by US Black Status Presenter Michelle Bell (who I get to meet tomorrow here in Scotland; more on that in a minute). She talked about the numbers and odds of success in this business. The rule of thirds as it were.
If you recruit ten, maybe three will do something with it. I believe I have three who will – just like she says.
Two of the three though have jobs and kids (one grandkids) etc getting in the way, and so their focus is not on building a Younique business.
That’s ok. They still can have a pretty solid and fun business – simply achieving yellow and not promoting further up the ladder. Am still happy to have them on my team. I truly am.
But in many ways, the ideal team mate is one who is ambitious, who pushes through any negativity that may arise, or down days that come (and both do happen regularly) to keep laying foundations for a successful business in the long term. Ones who will continue to work even when seeing no results coming in. That’s the real challenge! Putting in so much time and effort and not getting cheesed off when you’re not getting immediate results.
Watching my own team from the side lines, there has been no consistency for most of them and that’s been frustrating. I can’t make them post daily, or every other day, I can’t make them love their business. I can only lead the horse to water – beyond that, it’s up to them.
I found found that consistency is the key. Posting about the business regularly. Not always sharing links but in sharing the love of the business! In fact, truth be told, I seldom post any links. My “selling” is really just through my enthusiasm! That’s infectious!
That’s where I find my Younique sales “easy” while the others find it more difficult.
One reason it’s hard for them is because they’re telling themselves it’s “hard” or that “there is so much competition now”. I’ve heard many of them say this to me.
Secondly, they’re not being consistent with talking about the business excitedly and positively DAILY.
Back to the whole “hard” thing. To me, Ford had it right. So much of our success boils down to our thinking.
There are probably hundreds of Younique presenters in Glasgow (or Central Scotland) but I never give any of them a single thought. Why would I? I have to keep my eye on my own business.
Sure, occasionally, I check out the competition on social media to see how they’re marketing their own Younique business, but really their business is just that…Their business.
Also, I know that I will appeal to some people, and not to others. The same goes for my Y-Sisters.
There are some uplines I look at who just don’t “speak to me” the way others do. I get people saying “my friend is doing Younique too” and then they go and buy from me!
I’ve probably had friends go buy from someone else. That’s the nature of the beast.
To be a success in Younique (which I am certainly striving to be), I believe you need to be positive, enthusiastic and consistent in your posting and in your attitude.
I manage to post about Younique every single day – on my various channels. Some days I do so on every channel – other days on one or two (e.g. Twitter @newthea and Google+).
But every day I am putting something positive out there about this fabulous Younique Opportunity. EVERY DAY!!
I try to blog every week – sometimes more than once. It is my hope that with this very blog, I can educate and communicate with those who are thinking about buying Younique products, like our 3D Fiber Lashes or who are considering joining Younique and needing a sponsor.
6 MONTHS DOWN – CURRENT OUTLOOK
So it’s been six months, how do I feel? Well, I already mentioned the team thing’s been a real challenge. As I said, I have no trouble recruiting team mates at all, and never have from the very start, but finding ones who want to stay in the business, who love it as much as I do, and are committed to building a team – that’s been difficult.
If you’re thinking of joining Younique, I am 100% certain you’ll experience a similar thing. The challenges and frustrations but it can teach you a lot about yourself and your own team management too! So that’s perhaps a good thing.
Remember that it’s a numbers game, but it is also important to work out who your “ideal recruit” is, and then how to attract them, by the messages you’re putting out there.
While I am happy to have team mates that just want to buy the makeup for themselves – and not sell or recruit – the real gold is in the business builders with the same dream as me.
HAVE YOU MADE MUCH MONEY?
In short? I’ll be honest with you, no, not at all. Not what you want to hear, but I vowed to be as transparent as possible from the outset of My Week in Younique posts.
To be clear….Some months I’ve done pretty well. One month it paid the mortgage. Woot Woot!
Some months I haven’t done good commission wise at all. January was paltry!
The real reason I’ve not made much money with Younique is because there is a real temptation of plowing all the earnings back into the business.
In the first few months with Younique, I made a conscious decision to ensure that I had every single Younique product. I feel it’s essential to run a good business I need to have personally tried them all. I need to be able to show the products, talk about them, and blog about them here.
So a lot of my commissions get spent. Now I don’t have every colour, but I have all Younique products.
I also use the products every day. I genuinely love the products which also probably helps me sell it. That passion comes through in everyone I speak with. Just ask them! Once I start going, I don’t shut up!! But that’s also why I don’t have a tone of “profit”.
HOW’S LIFE BETTER WITH YOUNIQUE?
Another benefit to joining Younique is that I have made some new friends through the business.
Both on my upline (r) team mates and downline too.
People I can talk to about the business, ask questions, get advice or give advice too.
I am a Social Media Trainer who trains businesses every day – so I enjoy a business that allows me to be a mentor for my team mates if they need one! (Some have asked for help and training and others don’t take me up on the offer).
I had a 4-hour video call with one of my newest recruits, Kelly, on Friday. FOUR HOURS! Can you believe that? Talking about the products, about social media best practices, and about the business challenges and the joys too.
That was a real pleasure. I think we could have kept right on talking had it not gotten to be 1am! So this business really is FUN but…
YOUNIQUE IS NOT FOR EVERYONE
I have seen, first hand, that Younique is not for everyone. Some I sponsored tried it, and got cheesed off, for one reason or another. Some had health issues come up. Some had family or job things get in the way.
But you know what? The people that had these sorts of obstacles put them off really just didn’t love the business enough to want to make it work. When you do really want something so bad, you’re 100% committed to it – in spite of the challenges.
US BLACK STATUS TRAINING
Dozens of Younique Black Status presenters do videos and training. They have groups or websites to help train their downlines to promote.
I watch them all the time. Well, tomorrow, four, US, Younique Black Status Presenters are coming to Glasgow to have a dinner and share pearls of wisdom. I have volunteered to help out by signing people in.
It should be a fabulous event, and a chance to meet these Rock Stars in the flesh. So yes, that’s a real exciting Younique Opportunity for me.
CAN I HELP YOU?
If you have questions about joining Younique, then please get in touch with me here. Comment below or use the details on the top right.
Or if you want to #jointheAteamthem I’d love to have you (especially if you’re up for and committed to the Younique challenge! 😉
Though it’s been long, I do hope this update has given you something to think about – particularly if you’re interested in Younique as a possible “Plan Be” for yourself or even to run it as a full time business.
Though it’s not an easy business, there is no “get rich quick” opportunity here, I have absolutely loved being a presenter and sponsor to a team in the US and the UK.
I can’t wait to have people join the team from Canada, Australia, New Zealand and soon Mexico, Germany too! Oh yeah, speaking of which, I think I have my first recruit there already. She’s Iranian, the room mate of a friend, and lives in Hamburg, Germany. She seems very excited. We’ll see what happens there…I’ll certainly keep you posted!
Tomorrow, Cinco Di Mayo we launch our products in Mexico! I’ll try to write more about that and the training tomorrow night.
Welcome back to another, short instalment of My Week In Younique. Again there is not a ton to report, but I aim to keep those of you who are interested in joining Younique informed about my journey as a Presenter and Sponsor. I am now entering the sixth month of my Y-business.
So, where to start,…I’ve had a few more enquiries this week as to the merits of joining Younique – which is fantastic. Love those! I’d much prefer that than having to go here, there, and everywhere – trying to extol the virtues of this fabulous opportunity. It’s better, in my experience, that people are searching and find me as a sponsor (or to shop for mineral based makeup off of me) because if they have, then they’re, arguably, more keen to try out Younique or to sign up as a presenter themselves.
I’m working on a blog about the reasons to join Younique but I suspect it will take me another week to write unless the creative starts to flow. There are a lot of solid reasons to #jointheateam at Younique – but as fabulous as it is, it’s not an easy busy. If you’re someone swayed but slow periods of sales or negativity seen on the web – you’ll be put off by it. Early on, I decided not to be put off my Younique path and I choose to brush off other people’s negative experiences and keep positive on my own. I seriously love it. Still.
Yes, I’d hoped to be higher up the rainbow ladder by now (Blue or even Green), but I am still 100% committed to making it up and I need others around me who share that goal in order to make it happen. This is very much a team business. And on that note…
First Sales for April,…Finally!
Just checked my Younique Products site to see how my company is doing. I try to do every day so I can congratulate the team. Well, I just noticed that newcomer Kelly, the English Lass, has knocked it out of the ball park for April sales already! While I had a small order go through last week, Kelly is the first of my team to score some sales and no only that she’s just sold about eight times my order!
That’s bittersweet for me. I will really need to pull out all the stops to compete with that!! She’s fast on her way to hitting Yellow status and Fast Start too. What I love most about her is her determination. She’s looking to take this business further than just a wee sideline. She’s in the process of setting up her own blog and some social media channels too.
Well done Kelly!!
Brainstorming About Germany
So, my (good) ex was staying with me for the Easter weekend, and we spent a lot of time talking about my Younique business. My ex, as it happens, has an incredible strategic business brain, an MBA and works for an airline – so he’s the perfect person to bounce ideas off of – even if it’s a subject matter he knows nothing about. He’s an ideas man and that’s always fun to be around.
Coincidentally, it was an added bonus that he calls Germany “home” now, and Younique is set to launch in Germany later this year (July)! So I have enlisted him to help me find some makeup-loving residents of Germany to #jointheateam! He’s just flown back to Berlin today and is now on the case! Meanwhile I have some other ideas of how to track down some beautiful bilingual gals from Germany and Mexico.
Watch this space…
That’s all I have time for it’s 23:59, and I should be sleeping! See you next time!
Eyes That Shine
In case you’ve missed it….Here is an amazing offer for this month only! Get 100% natural, mineral pigment eye shadows + 3D Fiber Lash Mascara + Shine makeup remover sheets, all in one fabulous bundle.
This is a perfect bundle for those who love cruelty-free, 100% natural, mineral based pigment powders, with a money back guarantee! Grab the Shine Bundle while it lasts!
Well, I could have sworn I’d already written this blog, or at least some notes onto my phone or iPod when traveling, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere.
It will be a fairly quick “bumper edition” as I’ve not done “My Week in Younique” for two weeks now. Sometimes life gets in the way…My apologies.
New Team Mates to Welcome
In the last My Week in Younique update I welcomed Jo to the team. She immediately had gone on to qualify as an official White Status presenter within 48 hours.
That’s mighty impressive (considering some of my team mates have yet to get a single sale on the board!)
Now I need to welcome Jill. She joined through this very blog (I think) late in the evening – much to my joy. I am rather hoping she will take after Jo in terms of sales.
No pressure though, Jill. Ha! Welcome Jill to #theAteam. Glad to have you aboard.
Earlier this morning, I had my first comment from someone in Germany. I would love to sponsor German recruits so if anyone is in Germany in search of a Younique sponsor, then let’s talk.
Younique launches in Mexico first then Germany later in the year. I’m on the lookout for wannabe Younique presenters in both countries now!
Last Sales for March!
Younique is a dangerous business. I suppose it’s the same for other cosmetics type companies. This is why I blogged “If you Love Makeup Don’t Become a Younique Presenter”. Frankly, the last thing I should have done today, was buy more makeup, but I couldn’t resist. I had to do it.
I was out walking with a friend at the weekend. We just kicked off the#5x50chal. She used to do Avon. I asked her why she stopped and she said because she was spending all her commissions on makeup. I nodded, silently, knowingly. It’s true. I’ve been a bit guilty of that too.
Party Confusion – Frustrating
In the spirit of honesty and transparency, I am going to share one of my biggest complains about Younique, personally…
It’s the confusion surrounding the virtual parties…I really do think that a lot of people I speak to still don’t understand the virtual party concept. I am not sure I can clear it up for them.
Twice now, it’s happened, where friends have bought through my own site (which is good of course) instead of using either my party link or the link I created for them.
Once it happens, they have a support document saying how to “attach it to a party” – but frankly, I don’t believe it works. Or it’s not idiot proof enough…
Think I need to have words with the co-founder Derek. I could probably teach him a thing or two (given I started building websites 20 years ago this summer…
So anyway, last night my lovely friend Han went and spent over £100 in products for herself and her daughter, and didn’t use the “party link” I’d created for her. (Oops).
I immediately tried to contact support.
They said she had to do it.
I wrote to them on her behalf (using her email address).
They sent the non-sense email with instructions (like the above document) – and 24 hours later – we’re no further forward.
At this point, I don’t think Han can be bothered to sort it….and I’m frustrated because it means we’ve both lost out on the “Party Perks”. (If she didn’t want them, I would have had them quite happily…)
Ok sure, I got the commission, of course. Thankfully. That was both great and needed today – as the new month begins tomorrow.
She managed to get her £8 Y-cash March Kudos (for spending over £60) which is something…But we both did lose out on half-priced and FREE items from that sale of over one hundred pounds. Boo!
Splurge for Dainty
Oh well I currently have almost £80 in y-cash so it’s not like I am desperate. Might have to Splurge for Dainty. It’s out tomorrow. I love Elegant which I have already. I already have one order for Dainty. Anyone else want it too?
Younique Simplified: 3 ways to buy Younique from me:
1) Shop through my Younique site. Always appreciated. Sure. It’s what most people do here. 2) Shop through my own party links (I always have one going. If you can be bothered, then simply ask for the link address – tweet me or scan my tweetsor email me: younique (at) theanewcomb.co.uk)
3) Shop through your unique party link and you get the perks! Half priced and maybe FREE makeup! (We do need to become Facebook friends for that to happen though). Let me know if you want some FREE Younique products!
Getting exciting here! Spring is in the air, and we’re starting to see some real sales on the board for March…Other than that, there’s not a lot to update you all this week, so this will be a short blog. Well by my standards anyway.
There’s one new member Jo who signed up one day and officially qualified one day later. It was a brilliant-sized first order which, frankly, has put the rest of the team to shame (including me).
Rather interestingly, I’ve not met Jo or even spoken to Jo thus far, but am pleased to report that she found me via the web when looking for a Younique Sponsor, and that’s something that pleases me no end! (We have had an email exchange, don’t worry.)
Anyway, am not sure what Jo does for a living or how she managed it but her first order will definitely motivate me to work a little harder at getting some sales in, as I am in 2nd place for the first time ever on my own team (for March).
On quick glance to the leader board – she’s sold double what I have for the month so far, so I guess I better get my finger out and get going! Ha! It’s great that this blog does get me a few 3D Fiber Lash mascara sales on a regular basis. (ED NOTE: Always make sure you buy Real 3D Fiber Lashes and don’t be tempted to buy from cheap Amazon or Ebay sellers. It’s not worth it in the long run!)
It would be wonderful if she’d do that sort of business every week, and if I could find four more just like her! But history has shown me to not get too excited by early Younique sales! Some of my team mates have absolutely rocked it out of the ballpark – only to simply fall by the way side for whatever reason. Throwing in the proverbial towel. That just makes me realize…
Younique Isn’t for Everyone
Younique is not a “quick buck” (or pound) sort of business. It’s a slow build, in my personal experience. Sure, I have heard that there are some uber-successful women who got to Black Status super-fast, but I suspect for every one of them there are 10,000 who aren’t.
I am aiming for Black Level Status with Younique, but I’m taking the “slow and steady” pace to get there. My eye is currently on Blue, possible Green as soon as possible, but it will be a month or two before I get there, I suspect. At least.
While I’ve not found it hard to get team members, keeping them selling and motivated – seems to be where the challenge lies.
I have already had two team mates deactivate, and a few will go at the end of this month if they don’t reach their 125 PRS goals.
All you have to do to remain active as a Younique presenter is sell that 125 PRS (which is $125 or appx £85) every ninety days. That really shouldn’t be too hard to do for even the least sales-minded person….but it does seem to be a challenge for some people.
What I’d like right now is to find even just a handful of committed, business builders who will stop at nothing to achieve success. This is not an easy business, (I suspect no “Direct Sales” business is). I need people to join and who can weather the challenging, frustrating, depressing, moneyeless days with focus and determination. People who don’t let setbacks and negative people or thoughts take hold of them or sway them.
I have a few people on the team who will make something out of their business. They’ll work their way up the ranks but the vast majority don’t seem to have that as their goal.
So if you are someone who loves makeup, social media and the idea of running your own business then please feel free to #jointheAteam today! I would absolutely love to have you. Even if you’re only in it for the makeup and don’t want to build a business, you’d be welcome too. But the more people committed to the mutual vision, the more successful we will all be. Younique is a team thing!
