My Week in Younique – May Days

Thea Newcomb | Yellow Younique Presenter in the 1st month.Well another week or so has passed, it’s been decidedly mixed. Was fairly quiet for the whole first week then BAM! A rush – like buses – all coming at once.

Well Done Kel!

Great news, Kelly, one of my newest rock star recruits in England, has gone Yellow. She’s only the second person in my team who has managed to do so! I am sooo very proud of her! Onwards she goes!

She seems to want to “work it” more than anyone else presently on my entire team. On maternity leave, she really aims to build a business which will allow her to spend more time at home raising the children. Like me, though, she’s aiming for the top with Younique.

Also last week, as I mentioned in the last My Week in Younique (6 mos update), I attended a Younique event in Glasgow with nearly 150 of my fellow y-sisters. Because I have an American accent, I occasionally got mistaken for being one of the Black Younique presenters, which of course I’m not (yet). Perhaps one day…

If I am being honest, it was disappointing to me that I had no team mates there. I was surrounded by other people who had their teamies around ’em, but a lot was said about teams in general that did make me feel a bit better.

I have often felt that with my Younique business that you can lead the team to the watering hole, but you can’t make them drink anything. By that, I mean I can’t force, prod or push people to promote their business or to want to learn as much as they can. That’s gotta be down to them.

I was glad I went to the event. It was infectious being in the room with people at all Younique levels – from the newbies to the top dogs – as it were…It was an impressive amount of talent and inspirational stories bouncing around the room. It made me want to work harder to go higher and farther than I have.

It was encouraging to hear the challenges that these Black Level ladies had with their businesses and teams. Stories of working 40,50.60 hours and then brining in something like $84. I have been there. Many people have, I suspect, and just gave up thinking “there’s no money in this” or “this is too hard” or some other excuse. But it’s a slow build in my opinion. Sure there are Younique exceptions. I heard some in that room last week, of people going far super fast, but it’s not my reality. Slow and steady wins the race for me. I am the tortoise not the hare.

A few really helpful conversations were had between myself and Shawna Flinkert (left selfie) Michelle Bell (right selfie). They, in many ways, were the highlight of the night for me.Shawna gave me a good tip. She said it something she heard from one of her team mates, I believe…”3,4,5″ – since people are so “busy” these days – ask them for a wee coffee and ask them to bring three friends. Show four products in five minutes. “Everyone has time for coffee” she says. What a great idea. I plan to try it.

Gotta get my 5 minute pitch down pat first though? Ha ha.

Michelle talked about the rule of thirds (or something like that). With MLMs, you need to build big teams and for every ten, only three will really work it.Of the three, probably just one will be a “rock star” (as I call them). I look at my team and I could see how this reflects the average in direct sales. It really does! The money really comes in with a team, continually recruiting, and training them to recruit too. I’m still learning and loving it.

Welcome Rebecca

Welcome Rebecca - so glad you have decided to #jointheAteamWelcome to my latest team member Rebecca. Another English woman who has small children (or rather one) who she wants to have more time at home with. At the event, much time was spent talking about our “Why” – why we do the business we do.

For Rebecca it’s to be able to take her son to school and pick him up. She’s already done other Direct Sales businesses and she already knows the business model and that it takes a lot of work. I hope she’s as fantastic as I’d predict she is. She’s already a master-networker and is talking creatively about how she hopes to promote her own business locally in her area of Glasgow’s southside.

Before yesterday we had only known each other “online” through a mutual friend so it was fun to meet up in person and talk at length about Younique products, our goals within the company and our “Whys”. Though I don’t have any kids I do have a father I’d like to be supporting – so my “why” centers more around him!

3D Fiber Lashes

Thea's Fave Products, 3D Fiber Lash Mascaras from YouniqueSo I’ve just sold my last set of 3D Fiber Lashes and need to bulk order more. A few enquiries came in last night via this blog, also my Younique page, and some the night before via Facebook too.

For UK people who need a set of the fiber lashes, ordering direct through me can save them nearly four pounds. I order them in and will send out in the UK, so for people who want to save a bit of money and who aren’t in a hurry it’s worth reaching out to me here. I take payments usually through PayPal.

Most of my Younique mascara sales are to women in England. Thanks ladies!! So if you’re anywhere in the UK – order direct with me and save some money! Ring me on the number here on the website if you like. Preferably no later than 9pm.

Thea’s Top Younique Products

Welcome to #youniquebythea — am now three months down the line with Younique, and I thought to mark the anniversary, I’d do a post on my favourite Younique products. The following cosmetics are the ones I use on a daily basis.

I start by using the Illuminate Cleansers in the shower (yes really). I’ve not used a cleanser for years. I tried Clinique last year when I was noticing some reddish spots near my mouth, and it did me no good whatsoever (forked out a lot on that makeup at Heathrow – more fool me!) I use the Illuminate Clean which is for normal/dry skin. (You can get Illuminate Clear if you have Oily Skin).

When I get out of the shower, I sit down and begin the process of putting my “face on”. The first step here is putting on the Divine Daily Moitsurizer.. It’s just lovely going on. My skin welcomes the hydration. (I am probably guilty of not drinking enough water…something I need to remedy in 2015!!)

Its new formulation has fewer preservatives and comes in an airless pump. 50 ml.

Divine Daily Moisturizer

Here’s a short video about the product that you might find useful…

Glorious Primer

Buy Glorious Primer Today - The next step alternates between the Glorious Primer and the Uplift Eye Serum.

Generally it’s Glorious, so we will go with that. I can’t say that I ever used a “primer” before – but now that I have – I can’t see ever going back. It seriously goes on like a silk coating on my skin. It just evens out the skin and gets it ready for the next layer. Definitely a fave Younique product of mine!

Info via the Younique site:

Glorious creates a flawless canvas as it evens out the skin’s texture, and primes and prepares the skin for premium application of mineral makeup. The resulting appearance is porcelain-perfect, velvety-soft skin with incredible long-wearing, sweat-resistant coverage of mineral makeup that lasts all day. Ingredients are naturally based, free of parabens, oils, synthetic fragrances, and cheap fillers. Suitable for all skin types.

It truly is a beautiful product.

Uplift Eye Serum

Uplift Eye Serum - Younique By Thea - Fave Products - click to buyAfter the Glorious Primer, it’s time for some help reducing my wrinkles around the eyes. The Uplift Eye Serum, not unlike the Glorious, goes on in a silky-smooth fashion.

Hours and hours later it still feels smooth. This product is suitable for men and women both – and can be used day or night too!

Via the Younique Site:

Rich in vitamins, natural skin lipids, and antioxidants, Uplift Eye Serum is formulated to replenish, moisturize, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles….Uplift contains vitamins E and C–powerful antioxidants which help fight the effects of free radicals and long-term sun exposure. Squalane, derived from sugarcane, acts as a natural skin lipid to help deliver moisture below the surface of the skin. Uplift also contains Sweet Iris, which helps the skin appear firmer and more supple. Uplift is nutrition for your skin!

Next I personally put on the BB Flawless and spread it all over my face and eye lids. I got a light color (Bisque) because my complexion is on the fair side.

Moodstruck Mineral Pigment Powders

Check out our Moodstruck Minerals Pigment Power - Younique By TheaThen I start on the eyes – the lids. I use a variety of the Moodstruck Minerals colors on my lids. I have five of the thirty-two.

I love how versatile these pigments are. Because they’re all natural pigments you can wear them anywhere – including your cheeks, hair, and lips and more! Super fun! (I’m currently working on a blog just about the pigments!!)

Via the Younique Site:
Luxurious eye shadows formulated with finely crushed minerals, amino acids, and vitamins that provide key nutrition for your skin.

I really do love these little guys.

You can mix them with the Refreshed Rose Water (or tap water) to make up liquid liners, and shadows, as well. I do that – ever since I received my Rose Water recently!

UPDATE: I did a blog post that highlights all the things you can do to Get More from Your Moodstruck Mineral Pigments (like wear them on eyes, lips, in your hair and on your fingernails!)

Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lash Mascara

fave3dsNaturally, most days I do tend to apply our flag ship product, the best-selling 3D Mascara. Some days I apply it with a base coat of general mascara, and other days, I just apply the transplanting gel, the lashes and then the gel again.

It depends on my mood, my time, and the look I am going after.

Less is more for my normal day time routine. More layers, I mean business!

There are all kinds of great videos and blogs – by way of tutorials for people who aren’t having the best results with these 3D Fiber Lashes. I’ve watched tons to hear how other people are getting the best results and as I say I change up my application process regularly. I highly recommend getting the Lash/Brow Comb. It’s a great tool to make these lashes look even better!

The Moodstruck Precision Liners

Oh boy, I do certainly love Younique’s Moodstruck Eye and Lip Liners. They are incredible. They are versatile and inter-changable. They’re cry-proof, sweat-proof and glide on you friction-free. I’ve never been a huge makeup person before (ask any of my friends) but I’ve always worn eye liner and this is absolutely, categorically the best I have ever used. And it stays on until late at night – when I actually have to remove it!

Here is a great video to demonstrate the liners (and the fabulous sharpener). I tried to buy other sharpeners and to be honest they didn’t work with the Younique liners so I was so glad when I got the set of 15 (eye and lip) Liners which comes with our sharpener. Never have I been so excited to get a eye pencil sharpener before!

Lucrative Lip Gloss

Lucrative Lip Liners - Younique By TheaEven more than the 3D lashes, I think, I love the Lucrative Lip Gloss. My fave colours are the Lavish, Lucky and Loveable. Possibly in that order. I recently got the entire Lucrative Lips set of 10 – and to be fair, I have not tried them all on yet (I should do that soon).

3 Reasons to Love this Lucrative Lippy

I think I would have to say that I love the Lucrative Lip Gloss for three, main reasons:

1) they don’t dry my lips out;
2) they are not sticky-icky (so annoying when your hair gets caught in glossy lips isn’t it?) and
3) I love that they have a mirror on the side for those touch-up moments!
