February 29, 2016 @ 10pm – Welcome lovely to the place I’ll chart my race to Green in March 2016. Yes, I know I’ve already said this before(last summer), but this time I’m ultra-determined! It honestly couldn’t be a better time to shoot this high, as we are about to launch new products, collections, catalogues, kudos and a territory tomorrow morning.
So I will chart the progress in the thermometer above as myself, with the help of my team, embark on the race to green.
Why Race to Green With Younique?
“What’s the big deal about Green?” you might be wondering. Well it’s important for a number of reasons.
1) Green is when you transition from “Exemplary” to “Elite”, as it’s the fifth level out of eight Younique levels. Also you’re passed the halfway mark.
2) Even more excitingly, Green means a promotion! Once a Younique hits green, we earn 30% discounts/commissions on all sales and purchases from here on in. (That’s up from 25% of yellow, pink and blue).
3) In addition to that good stuff, you make more money off of your downline than you do at Pink (3%) and Blue (4%) too!
Yep, Green’s a whopping 5% commissions on your downline’s sales. Brilliant!
Green Targets To Hit
To actually hit Green status with Younique means the person, and their team needs to sell 10,000 PRS (or $10,000 USD).
As Younique presenter hopes to hit green, we also need three qualified first-level presenters, and to personally sell 500 PRS.
For the first time, a Green status presenter has company sales targets to hit too. So a Green Younique will also have to have 2000 PRS company-wide sales. (This is where the comp plan starts to go a bit confusing, to me anyway!)
It’s All About Your Team
As they say there is no “I” in TEAM. It’s taken a long time, (fifteen months), but there are finally people in my downline who love Younique as much as I do, and who are working their business – each in their individual ways.
The more Rock Stars you have in direct sales the easier it is to promote up, so I am pleased to say I’ve got a number of Younique “Rock Stars” on my team now!
There have been six new recruits since the start of the year – and hopefully a few more will come on board soon too. It’s a perfect time to join.
In addition to reaching green this month, I will also hit my target of 10,000 PRS.
When you sell $10,000 you even get a 10k charm, which I am looking forward to earning. It will be my seventh. I never thought I’d be so motivated by small charms, but hey, I am.
So please check back, in a few days or weeks and we’ll see how close I get to achieving this lofty goal.
I am beyond-excited and will document some of the efforts in my nextMy Week in Younique post. Stay tuned.
Hola España! Welcome and here we go with another short update My Week in Younique– talking new team mates, a new territory, si España, and the return of Touch Mineral Liquid Foundation (well, sort of…) Read on, lovely.
Younique Says “Hola Espana”
If I was a betting woman I’d have won the bet on the next territory we’d launch in. It made perfect sense as we first had Germany, then France and next up it’s Espana – or Spain for those who do not hablo espanol. Of course!
If you’re in Spain, you’ll be able to Join Youniquein a matter of weeks! How wonderful is that? España – if you are looking for a sponsor then I’d love to have you. If you want some more info on How to Find a Younique Sponsor read that first.
WELCOME TO THE ATEAM CARI
Yesterday I was delighted to welcome Cari the newest team member to #JointheAteam – from Nevada. This after welcoming Tabitha, also in America, recently too!
One of the most wonderful thing about Younique is getting to make friends around the world. Look forward to getting to know these latest recruits in the coming weeks and months and hope that they love Younique as much as I do.
ORDER TOUCH FOUNDATION FAST
There is a lot of controversy surrounding the Younique Touch Mineral Liquid Foundation. It was out for a few months, then it went a bit viral and sold out in every shade. I blogged that the Younique Foundation is back – already this week so I won’t go too much into that but the very good news is that for a limited time only you can order the foundation right now in the Cloud 9 Collection.
Personally I can’t wait for my Cloud 9 collection to arrive because I was already in need of a new Dainty (one of my faves of all Younique products), the Addiction Palette number 1 because I hadn’t been able to purchase it and to replace my Ritzy lipstick because I think I had left mine in California. So all that plus the new travel-size makeup bag makes me very excited indeed.
That’s about all for this week. Don’t forget we have a “Free Shipping” offer going on this month – on orders over a certain amount. That’s February’s Younique Kudos. So happy shopping, you’re welcome!
I leave you with a happy “bienvenidos España”. Hope to see you on my team soon, chica! xo
Here we are, it’s just two minutes until February now, and so time to share another My Week in Younique! As we leave January behind (praise Buddha), we kick off another month and launch in another country – France! This post sees three lovely additions to my team. Let’s wrap Jan before we talk about Feb!
Younique January Blues
January was dismal, I’ll be honest with you. There were no sales and no recruits for me – the whole month until this weekend. At least I got a last minute mascara sale in, but that was it! Ugh!
I know I shouldn’t admit to such things but sometimes Younique is like that. Heck, sometimes life is like that. Highs and Lows. Ebb and Flow. January was just low, end of story. Not just for me but many of my team mates too. Few of us did anything this month. Newcomer Annabelle rocked it right out of the ballpark. You should totally check out Annabelle’s videos on her FB group – as she’s fantastic!
Yesterday, Saturday, I a lovely person called Sharon joined the team. I’d had several equiries this week about joining younique so it was great one finally did. Then later in the afternoon another joined – Jay in the USA. Later that night while I was out at the movies a third person joined the team – Gillian just outside Glasgow. So three is in fact a charm and my personal best for Younique recruits! I celebrated by writing a blog last night “How to Find a Younique Sponsor” which may prove helpful to some!
Anyway so yes, January was less than stellar for myself and the Ateam…but it sure ended on a high note.
Fab February France – Bonjour
So again, as I said previously, we launch in France in a matter of hours. Tout le monde semble très excité! j’espere trouver beaucoup de gens se joindre à moi – avec Younique.
Well OK, so my French is a tad rusty. I’ll work on that and go back to English for now.
I’m hoping to have some lovely makeup lover to #jointheAteam soon – and for an excuse to pop back over there later this year. Any excuse, right?
Younique Customer Kudos for Feb
You can tell that I am very excited about February. In the morning we will find out what this months customer kudos will be. Last year it was awesome. It had a super cute pink bag, with some 3D Fiber Lashes, a lip gloss and eye liner too – bundled. I just pray that this year’s will be just as good if not better. Personally speaking, the January Kudos left a little to be desired. Eye Lash Curler? Cute as it may be, and good as it may work, it was a bit “Meh” – too hard to excited over. February will definitely top that one, right? Ask me in nine hours.
Oh and it’s a Leap Year, so apart from the obvious advantage or being able to propose to your guy, as it’s a bit longer there is an increased sales potential!
Speaking of sales, my goal over the next month is to hit the 10,000 PRS – so I can earn another charm for my collection!
Then my next goal after that is to hit Green Status Elite – which feels a little impossible right now, to be honest, but surely it must be doable, as many before me have done it! So Green it is!
So that’s about it. My team update (welcoming three new recruits), the Younique France update (just hours away), my Younique goals at the moment,….and a brand new Fab Feb France Foundation and Fun party to kick of the month! Hope it’s a great one! I gotta get some sleep and when i wake up – it’s a new month with a new customer kudos and new territory! Brilliant!
Trust me though, I’ve been working as hard as ever on the business and so has most of my company! So here’s a bit of the latest info on new products, new team achievements and some info about my upcoming Younique by Thea gift vouchers.
So on the first of the month I ordered a few extra sets of 3D Fiber Lashes+ to have on hand and in doing so qualified for the November Kudos of the brand new Eye Primer. It’s not a product you can currently buy but you can get it as a bonus purchase as this month’s Kudos.
It was much smaller than I’d expected but you really don’t need to use much. Two wee dots on your finger and you’re good to prime your eyes!
Super proud of my latest recruit Charlotte to qualify officially as a White Status presenter with over 200 PRS (Personal Retail Sales).
Throughout many of the My Week in Younique (and the aforementioned year update) I have said “Younique is not for everyone” so it really makes me happy when I see ladies in my company taking to it like a duck to water…Their love of Younique makes me truly happy.
Now if only all of my company members felt that way…Sadly, one of the recent recruits decided the products (and prices) were not for her, and so she has left in the first 90 days. I guess that’s made tonight’s achievement by Charlotte all the more pleasing to me! Way to go girl!
Not doing too bad myself thanks to my team and for my own efforts (my mascara purchases, a few direct 3D Fiber Lashes sales, and one stranger in Indiana buying the Cloud 9 kit) – I’m nearly qualified as Pink again myself and we’re only halfway through November.
Now if I could just reach Blue…(Speaking of which I created a “Blue party”link in case you want to spend a few pennies on makeup!)
New Splurges Arrived!!
If you have ever seen any of my other blog or social media posts you’ll know the lashes aren’t my favourite product but maybe the Splurge Cream Eye Shadows are. You can see they have my name written all over them!
Well, let’s see, in the past week or so I’ve received a number of new ones – Noble (H), Extravagant (E), Whimsical (A), Skeptical (!) and my replacement of my fave Elegant (Top left). That Elegant would suit any eye at all. Seriously it’s neutral and glorious (not to be confused with our Glorious Primer of course).
I highly recommend you check out Splurge Cream Eye Shadows. I’d never worn them before Younique but now I can’t live without it. (Well, of course I could live without it and all makeup, but I’d not want to!)
Younique Gift Vouchers
This weekend I’ve spent a lot of time working on the new Younique gift vouchers which can be purchased in the UK for birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas or any special occasion or reason someone may might want to treat someone else for. You’ll be able to pay by Paypal (have just set up a new UK business account to handle the transactions in the UK – and have a separate PayPal for all USA business), cash or BACS payments. They’ll be available in a variety of increments and if someone has a special amount they want it in they can contact me for a bespoke payment link just for them.
There will be more information added to the site, about the Younique gift vouchers, in the next few days (hopefully). Will get them posted as soon as I can. That said I am about to have my busiest two weeks of the whole year so it may not go off as planned.
That’s a wrap for another My Week in Younique. If you are interested in joining Younique but have questions please reach out to me in one of the ways listed above on this site. You may find the Younique FAQs post helpful and also the 10 Reasons to Join Younique as well.
UPDATED 2020: Am currently still a presenter but not marketing the products or actively sponsoring any longer. If you need a hands-off sponsor then I’m your gal.
Thinking about Joining Younique?
Considering starting your own Younique business? Googling to learn more about whether “it’s a scam”, a “pyramid scheme”, too good to be true OR if it’s just right for you?
Read on to hear about my journey to the one-year mark. It’s my hope that this anniversary update will shed some light on what it’s been like for me to be a Younique presenter and sponsor for my first year. That said, everyone’s experience will be different, and as I often say: “Younique is not for everyone…”
My Year in Younique
One year ago, on October 26, 2014, I made the somewhat unusual decision to join Younique. I say “unusual” for a couple of reasons.
1) Right up until the week before I joined, I’d never even heard of the products (not even the flagship 3D Fiber Lashes mascara!)
2) Another reason that it was sort of “unusual”, was because I was never someone that anyone would consider a glamorous, makeup sort of girl.
Though I’ve always worn makeup, I wasn’t ever particularly excited by it. So it was a bit of a blind and bold decision to join Younique like I did (and more than a few friends were a little shocked).
I figured, in the worse case scenario, I was out £79, but at least I’d have some makeup to show for it.
You know what? I am now more excited by makeup than I ever thought possible!
So people can change!
Charting My Younique Path
Research. Research. Research. Right after I joined, for the weeks that followed while I waited for my kit to arrive, I could barely sleep due to my excitement!
I would stay up late watching tutorials and webinars, or surfing around for information about the company and its products.
When I found any harsh criticism about the company or any products, I had to take it with a pinch of salt, and not let it put me off the company entirely (a few times it nearly did but I’m glad I didn’t listen!)
Younique is not for everyone, and there is no company in the world with 100% satisfaction. Not one.
There will always be haters. The internet is filled with them. There will always be people that have issues with their orders, or who don’t like a product, or are allergic to a product. Again no company in the world will have 100% approval ratings across the board. It’s impossible.
Anyway it was all about the research those early weeks. I took the time to look at different presenters’ social media profiles, Youtube channels (etc) – and noticed ones that really “worked” and the ones that, well, didn’t (e.g. those who were just spamming their shop links left, right and center, in other words – they just tried to sell, sell, sell). Those sorts of marketing tactics have given Younique a bit of a bad rep. (Many people have commented on how “spammy” some of their presenter friends or followers are – which makes it challenging for those of us who don’t want to be seen that way!)
My “day job” is as a Social Media Trainer, traveling across Scotland, so I do have a very good working knowledge with all the major platforms and many of the non-majors (‘ello, Tsu, Blab…)
Younique is all about Facebook – they’re linked. I, however, am not. So I decided, from day one, not to bother with Facebook pages or even Facebook parties (they’re a pain to make successful). It appeared to me that most presenters were focusing their efforts on FB – so it felt over-saturated there, so I decided to leave them all to it.
What’s so great about Younique is you can choose how you want to market your own business. You need FB to join up, but no one says that’s how you have to spend all your marketing efforts…
So, as ever, I chose a different path. I’m a blogger. I’ve blogged for many, many years now. I also teach SEO (search engine optimization). I love Twitter and I am a huge fan of Google+.
When I joined Younique, very few people were focusing on G+, which has always been a fave platform of mine, so that’s where I spend most of my energy. That was where I could be a bigger fish in a smaller pond.
To this day, there are only a dozen or so (if that) Younique Presenters on Google+ that I feel are even doing it right. By “right” I mean posting content, telling stories, engaging with others – which is what the platform is all about.
The rest are just spamming their profiles with their own party links saying “shop my party” – (essentially treating it like it’s Facebook). It’s not like Facebook at all, so it’s not going to work if you do that.
Well, I can’t give all my strategies away here…but if you #jointheAteam, I will share them. I offer an open Sunday night coaching call with my team each week to talk about their social media strategies.
It should be noted that a few of my team mates are doing great work on Facebook and more power to them! It’s a personal choice! You can do what’s right for you!
Younique Recruiting, aka Sponsoring
Boy, I have learned a lot about myself, and managing a team in this first year. To be fair, I’ve also learned that there’s still much room for improvement…
It took 18 days to get my first recruit (a straight man, rather ironically) and a day later my second joined my team.
About a week later four more! I was flying! But alas, most of my first few recruits never lasted beyond the first 90 days – much to my dismay.
Thankfully two have – Marie and Karen (pictured with me on the right). Those two were friends before Younique, and I am pleased to say remain dear friends and active presenters!
By the end of first month, on November 30, 2014, I managed to reach Yellow status (the first level up the ladder after the starting point, white).
A week later “Fast Start”* (In the first 90 days having 1. $2000 in Personal Retail Sales (PRS) and 2. Sponsor at least 3 new Presenters).
I was over the moon about that and the cute two charms that followed.
Headed home to California for the holidays with high hopes of recruiting two friends in particular out there. I felt certain both gals would be amazing at Younique. We often do that – think that of our friends, but for whatever reason, though they both loved the products, neither seemed too interested in joining my team.
It’s hard not to get disappointed when your family or friends don’t really seem to take an interest or support you.
In a strange twist of fate, two other long-standing friends did join my team! One in particular had done direct sales (a few times) so I was certain she’d rock this business! No doubt whatsoever!!
Well, she didn’t, and by the end of her 90 days, she was gone too! Dang!
The other teamie remains, but only buys the products for herself and no other orders. Still I’m glad she’s kept it up this year! It all helps!
By the end of December, month two, myself and my company did nearly 2700 PRS (personal retail sales), so I managed to hit Pink status for the very first time! It seemed almost impossible to hit that 2000 PRS, but I did and I was gonna keep going all the way to the top (Black status)!!
I’d high hopes of reaching Blue in January or February then Green by March (in time for St Patrick’s Day or something), but I guess I wasn’t specific enough, because it didn’t happen last March but maybe next?
You see, I’d reached Pink so fast that I was lulled into thinking that was easy enough, but then it didn’t happen again for another NINE months! D’oh. Talk about frustrating! So it feels like I’ve been stalled at Pink forever – and I am really hoping these holidays will help me, and my team, to promote up the ladder.
Watch this space….
What I Spent on Younique: Year 1
There are certain things we can and can’t say regarding income made with Younique. We’re not allowed to promise anything with regards to income, and, frankly, I’d be amazed if you made a profit in Younique in the first year…Yes, am sure some Youniques do/have, (some even in their first month) but I personally suspect most will not…
I have spent a few thousand pounds on Younique products this year.
Don’t worry though – in reality, you don’t have to buy anything after your startup presenter kit.
You get the makeup in that kit, and the FREE website, and that’s you.
That’s all you ever have to spend…
But I have always strived to have every product that we sell, so that I can use it myself, and also to show people who are interested in seeing them in person…
Also it should be noted, that some of those orders were for other people who gave me money to buy their products (saving them the £6.95 UK shipping fees).
Have I earned enough to break even? No, probably not. I suspect I’m running at a slight loss, BUT I have had great makeup that I’ve used all year. So not really a “loss”.
I’d have bought makeup anyway and this way all the makeup I buy I receive 25% back on. Not only that I’m paid three hours after ever sale! Plus when I shop through my own party links, I get to earn 1/2 price credit, and even free makeup in the form of y-cash to spend.
So in my mind it’s not been a financial loss at all…if that makes sense?
“Are you Making Money with Younique?”
If anyone is expecting to join Younique and for it to be “easy money”- then they’ve got another thing coming. It’s not easy. As I say all the time “it’s not for everyone”.
In fact, the Younique presenter agreement sums it up pretty well: “financial success with Younique requires commitment, effort, and sales skill.”
I second that emotion, and I am learning more each day, which is a good thing, I think.
The thing is I get people saying “yeah but” to me a lot. “Yeah but are you making any money at Younique yet?”
How many businesses do you know make money in the first year?
Or even the second or third? Why should a direct sales business be any different? It takes time. Lots of it. It’s not throw a few links up and rack in the dough. Those efforts will show no return whatsoever.
For me though, I’m prepared to give it time. I am putting in a lot of hard work now – so that in a few years, it IS making me money. It’s starting to now…
Most of my sales (and my recruits) now come from strangers – via this very blog. Thank you for that.
The challenge with tallying what I’ve earned with Younique is that I’ve given some makeup away as gifts, I have been paid cash in US dollars and UK pounds, I get paid by PayPal (in both currencies) and BACS bank transfers too. I also sell through my youniqueproducts/thea site – so I’ve lot of monetary places to be keeping track of…I’m still going through it all, and I do look forward to seeing the overall total (and so does my accountant Erik!)
You’re Nothing Without a Team
To make any money and promote within the company, you’re going to need to be prepared to build a team of people who are prepared to do the same. When I joined I heard “recruit 5 and train them to recruit 5, who recruit 5” – often. Sounds easy enough, doesn’t it?
Pah, it’s not.
Or at least it hasn’t been for me!
I mentioned a few of my own recruits, of which there have been 21 to date (I was hoping for 3 more by today so it will have been an average of two per month, but 21 it is…)
Some people have joined my team and never even spoken to me, and then dropped off. (Presumably just “kit snatchers”).
Some have joined my team, spoken to me and said they wanted to build a successful business, and then did nothing at all, then dropped off.
Some have dropped off due to life getting the way, and then reactivated and kept going! Hooray!
Some are actually working their business and recruiting team mates of their own. Double hooray!
To me, the hardest part of the business – not the selling of the makeup (it sells itself), but the recruiting like minded (ambitious) teamies or as I call them “rock stars”.
It’s been particularly hard to watch people join only to do nothing (or very little) then quit. It’s really hard to not take that personally – even though it has little or nothing to do with me.
No one’s direct sales success or failure can be solely down to their upline or sponsor. My own sponsor ended up quitting halfway through the year.
There is no excuse to not be a success in your own right – given the amount of support there is for Younique. There are webinars, Facebook groups/pages, YouTube channels, blogs, etc.
After the first week, I seldom went to my upline for anything, as a quick search of Google usually revealed the solution, or sometimes a chat with Younique support. It was great I could lean on her but I tried hard to not have to!
Back to my recruits, though…Yes, many of them have quit, but many have remained and started to build a team of their own, as I said. To date, there has been a company high of 34 people. How cool is that? Active at this moment? 20. Three of those are marked for deletion again. D’oh!
Younique is not for everyone.
Another challenge with a team is not taking things personally when some people don’t really respond to, or resonate with, you, so they find other presenters who resonate with them more.
But if I look at my own style of learning I did the same thing. There are some Younique Black Status presenters I think are amazing (like the ones pictured here) and then there are others who aren’t my cup of tea.
Rapport is a strange beast and not everyone gels.
Not everyone relates to my style of Younique coaching, so I’m having to learn to not take that sort of thing personally! I try to continually remind them I am there if they need me to lean on but many have found other presenters to go to and that’s good! Whatever works!
One thing I have loved about Younique are the incentives. Getting different charms for each level, and for fast start and the recent +YOU movement. It gives you something to work toward. I’m a sucker for those charms. I want them all and I’ll get there eventually. This email came in mid-week and it made my day. It was fabulous to recruit three presenters in one week! That was three weeks ago…
NOTE: The day after posting this I finally got another recruit Emma! Meanwhile I anxiously await for my new +YOU charm to add to my collection!
My Younique Wrap
So that’s My Year in Younique summary for this first, rather challenging year. My goal, if you’re interested, is still to promote up to Blue or Green (if not higher) for next year’s update.
It’s taken quite a while to get here, but I truly feel that I have the start a totally awesome team now! We just all need to synchronise our awesomeness. It’s often been the case that I had a great month in personal sales and my team didn’t. Or they did great and my sales were patchy.
To be successful in this business (or any business really), I believe it takes a positive attitude, tons of tenacity and self-belief. It’s also about hard work and dedication, not just on your business but on yourself. Perseverance is paramount.
There will be days when you want to pack it in, but if you can step away for a day or two, you’ll often come back feeling renewed. Set goals, and make step towards them daily in some way. It’s about riding out the highs and lows. You get a cluster of sales, you’re on a high, then you have nothing for two weeks, you’re on a low…repeat, lather, rinse.
Well that’s been my experience and it should be noted that we’re all different so Younique experience may vary! I’ve met a lot of people that have loved the company and the products and many who haven’t. As I keep saying, “Younique is not for everyone” – but it is for me!
This year, I think I’ve learned that a successful year is not solely based on monetary terms, because every single day I’m learning more about selling, people, communication, mentoring and business management. And you know what? Some of those aforementioned strangers have now now become truly amazing and inspiring friends!
Reach out if you have any questions: 3dlashes (@) youniquebythea.com or if you’re in the UK you can ring 0141 416 1492, or North America on 408 353 0434. Or Tweet me. Or comment below. See you next time…on My Week in Younique!
Since that date, we we have been giving away a super cute limited edition +You charm, two sets of the popular 3D mascara in the new presenters kit, and we also were offering FREE SHIPPING!
What a totally great deal!! That means you got one set of lashes for yourself and one you could sell or give away…If you did sell it that would bring your presenters fee down a chunk. (E.G. to join in the UK it is £69 and if you sold a set of 3D lashes for £23 that brought your business start up to just £46…Or $99 USD – $29). Cheap as chips to start a Younique biz.
Final Minutes of the +You Movement
Well we’re down to the final MINUTES of the +YOU movement. Once we sell a million – that offer stops and you go back to getting just the ONE set of lashes and you pay for your shipping.
As I type this blog post we’re just nine hundred mascaras away from the end of the campaign that started in July (93 days ago).
That’s an average of nearly 11,000 of the 3D Fiber Lashes+ mascaras a day (if my numbers are correct…or rather Google’s numbers). Not bad (though that does seem less than the 15,000 we often been quoted since joining).
Anyway that’s a lot regardless….As part of the +You movement, as I was already a presenter and sponsor, I didn’t get to take advantage of that shipping/extra mascara deal – but I did get a chance to earn a +YOU charm for recruiting three gorgeous gals in one week so that has pleased me no end.
That’s all – just wanted to write a really fast post to mark the very end of the campaign as I was blogging quite heavily on the day we launched the new Younique mascara in July!
Hoping I may even get another new recruit today on this final day…You never know!! If you fancy grabbing a bargain – either to run as a business or for the make up itself (no selling or recruiting) – do so now! Click the button below and off you go!
Well it’s time for, yet another Younique Update – also know as ‘My Week in Younique’ – where I try to give you the lowdown on my highs and lows of running my ‘Younique by Thea’ business.
In This Younique Update…
It’s been an exciting time in terms of new team members, accolades, business changes, new products and Younique Christmas vouchers too!
We’ll start with the first two which are linked. I am delighted to have welcomed a few new team mates to the team since the last My Week in Younique. We have a movement going on right now called Plus You (+YOU) which I recently blogged about.
Basically for those new members who join now they get 1) Free shipping on their kit, 2) an extra set of 3D Fiber Lashes mascara in their kit and 3) a special +You charm to accompany their White charm that we all get when joining.
That offer has been happening since we launched the new 3D mascaras back in July. For those of us already presenters we could earn that charm by recruiting three presenters in a one week period from Sunday to Saturday. Not normally a competitive person but frankly I have wanted that charm since the moment it was announced.
Well as luck would have it, I finally achieved it in what is likely to be the penultimate week of the campaign. We’re just about eighteen thousand sales away from ONE MILLION MASCARAS SOLD!! So I’d guess it will be only another day or two before that’s over (and I get my coveted charm to add to my collection!)
So once again let me welcome the latest three lovelies to join my team – Helen (my first Aussie recruit), and Alison and Charlotte – both from England!
I’ll be posting a blog in just over a week or so that will be My Year in Younique. In it I’ll talk in even greater detail about how the journey has been. It’s definitely been packed with many highs and lows. It’s not an easy business but suffice it to say I still love it.
Last night my Cloud 9 collection finally arrived here in Glasgow. Younique now has a hub in the Netherlands which is great – but as a result of its launch, there have been some teething problems. Normally orders can take a few days to process, but in this case I started to get peeved when nine days later it was still saying “Processing”. Eventually the oder go through and at a time rate that was not unlike its being shipped from Utah (via California then London!). Less than two weeks in the end so all’s well that ends well!
Anyway I just snapped this pic in my kitchen to show you its contents.
As makeup is such a personal thing, and one may not know the exact items, colours or styles to get things in, I am now offering Christmas Gift Vouchers.
I’ll be revealing a bit more about them in the next blog – in a week or so but essentially you’ll be able to choose from prices ranging from a simple stocking stuffer £15 up to the Splurge of £200. Ts & Cs will apply and the voucher is good for 6 months from date of purchase. But again more on that next time. Currently deciding whether to do US and UK vouchers or just UK.
Younique Update Summary
In my last Younique update, I highlighted some recent Younique business changes – like the fact you only need to spend more than £75 to receive free shipping in the UK.
Also, as I said earlier, we finally have our European hub in the Netherlands. Perhaps most-excitingly, we can “Cash and Carry”! That means I now can officially offer you 3D mascaras in 48 hours and save you a few pounds shipping and a Free Greeting Card when you order direct from me (via phone or email listed on this site). this offer is not good if you end up shopping through my Younique website.
Frankly though – either way works! I am grateful for any sale – whatever way works for you!
Well I am behind on the My Week in Younique updates, I know, so I thought I better write an update. Also for those who have been following along with MWY, the good news is that I’m just a few weeks away from my one-year anniversary, and I will be doing a very special blog on my Younique journey – one year in. So watch out for that.
What an exciting month September was! Though my own personal sales were half of what they were in August, my company’s sales were more than double – so that’s rather cool. In any event, I managed to hit pink (for only the second time in a year)!
Today, as the new months begins, we start fresh with a handful of ladies who’ve joined my company in the past week alone (three lovelies have joined me, one has joined Karen’s team, and one for Lucy too).
Lucy’s recruit, in the final minutes of September, qualified her as the first one in my company to reach Fast Start. We, #theAteam, as a group, were all so proud of Lucy for achieving her goal. She worked so hard and now gets a sweet charm and a Y-cash bonus to spend on heaps of makeup as she sees fit. I was so excited to splurge when I reached it myself in December. Not only that but Kelly now joins me as Pink. These two have been putting me to shame for the past few months so I better step up my game!
FREE Greeting Card
I now selling wonderful Phoenix Trading greeting cardswhich are made in the UK. So I will be giving anyone who chooses to buy Younique products directly from me the choice of any greeting card we sell. So if you’re buying a treat for yourself or for anyone else – I’ve got you covered. There are beautiful birthday cards, congratulations cards, wedding/anniversary, friendship and Christmas cards too! It’s up to you. Pick the one you want or I’ll pick one for you!
Bienvenido Younique México
Yesterday we officially launched in Mexico. Younique started selling products there, back on Cinco De Mayo (May 5), but from yesterday, we can recruit lovely Latinas to our teams! If you’re one, and want a sponsor, then please reach out. I’d love you to #jointheAteam now!
In other good news, we filled the triple digits club in seven hours – unlike Germany which took weeks to fill!
Younique News This Week
There are some big Younique changes happening – particularly for us here in the UK…
1) The NFR Limits are Now Lifted!!
Now that the “Not for Resale” (NFR) limits have lifted, we’re able to “Cash & Carry” our 3D Fiber Lashes (or any Younique products) now! FYI I currently have half a dozen sets in stock, so please message me (or comment below) if you want one. You can also call me to discuss on 0141 416 1492. (Remember if yo do order anything from me direct, you get a free greeting card of your choice from the cards that are found here)
2) Exciting: Shipping Costs Lowered
So pleased to announce that though the shipping fee of £6.95 remains active now you qualify for FREE SHIPPING by spending less on Younique products. The new rate to reach FREE shipping is now anything over £75.00. How awesome is that?
Incidentally, according to the support desk this afternoon, “Mexican shipping has also changed. $1-$2,499 MXN will cost $75 to ship Anything above that is free.”
3) Younique Shipping Time
Some of the team members have noticed that their orders are shipping faster. I had two, 3D mascara UK orders last month which were ordered just one day apart, and there was a strange situation whereby the second order got to the UK faster than the first!
In any event, am so glad they’re getting those UK orders here faster. We eagerly await at Younique European hub to improve it even more! I ordered the Cloud 9 collection for myself on September 30th which features all six of our new Younique products – plus a 3D Fiber Lashes mascara too – so I can’t wait for that to arrive! Thanks for stopping by.
I’ve fallen behind in my Splurge purchases and need to get the most recent three so it’s most handy that this month it’s an opportunity to buy them on special offer in the Kudos here.
My Year in Younique
Well that’s it for another My Week in Younique update. As I said earlier, I’m working on a very transparent blog post about my year as a Younique presenter and sponsor. It’s going to be a good one (if I do say so myself).
Are you a military wife, girlfriend or partner who’s looking for ideas to set up your own home-based business? Need one that’s compatible with an unpredictable and sometimes transitory lifestyle? Searching for something that you can run full or part time – whenever and wherever you have time? Then Younique may just be what you’re looking for, and I will tell you why.
Younique is Re-Location Friendly
Currently to run a Younique business, you must be based in the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Germany or Mexico. That might mean it’s perfect for military wives, spouses and partners.
If you’re family is currently stationed, for instance in Germany, and you move back home to say the US or the UK, you can still run the business there and still get sales and recruits in any of the countries we sell in!
How’s that for flexibility?
Or say you’re only in one state for a short period before moving to another, you’d benefit from versatility of Younique’s business model of online selling anywhere (well, in the aforementioned markets we trade in).
As a Californian in the UK, my team is predominantly UK-based (where I spend most of my time), but I also have team mates based in the USA and Canada too.
I travel back and forth between the US and the UK a few times a year, and love having a business that I can work from anywhere (even at the swimming pool or beach!)
How Does Younique Work?
First of all, you simply buy your starter kit (the current kit is pictured above and changes often).
The moment you join you will receive your own unique Younique website (no annual fees).
To sell, simply promote the products by sharing the website link (online or via email), or you can take orders yourself and then shop through your own website.
You can set up and run parties online via social media channels (e.g. Facebook), run them in your home, or somewhere else entirely (a restaurant, a friend’s house, a hall etc).
As I say, because Younique is primarily marketed online, it means sales can come from all over. I’ve had orders from all over the USA, UK and Australia to date.
When you do get any sales – the commissions are paid three hours after every order!
That’s the best feeling in the world. Last night I sold makeup while I slept. Nothing like waking up and getting your notification that you’ve been paid.
Suits any level of experience – from absolute beginners to the very experienced (in both makeup and business sense).
It’s flexible to work anytime anywhere.
You make great friends!
I also do a whole series called “My Week in Younique” which documents my experiences of running Younique by Thea. This will show you the real highs and lows I’ve had. Thankfully more highs than lows.
So if you’re one of the military wives, spouses or partners who’s been looking for ideas for home-based businesses, then look no further. Younique really is it. It is perfect for anyone looking to supplement their income and to have some fun in the process. Not only do you actually get paid to play with makeup, party, and develop new friendships, you’ll also learn more about yourself than you ever realised was possible.
Time to put your talents to good use! If you think you have what it takes to grow your own business, then please get in touch today. Reach me by phone UK: 0141 416 1492 or in the US/CAN: 408-353-0434 – or if you’re in Germany, Mexico, Australia or New Zealand – email may be better 3dlashes (at) youniquebythea.com.
As recently predicted in my new products post, it has been a busy September already, and we’re just approaching the half-way mark. So for this ‘My Week in Younique’ update I will update you on the new products, team efforts and remind you of this month’s Kudos!
Makeup Lovers Beware!
Firstly Younique is a dangerous business if you even kind of like makeup. I am not a crazy makeup fiend, and yet most of my profits get sucked back into the business. This month though I’ve refrained from buying the new collection that contains the six new Younique products (It’s called Cloud 9). I will get it, but I’ve set myself a personal target before I’ll allow myself to get it.
Very excited to try the new products. I believe a few of my team members have already picked it up – which has meant a solid start for the A team! Sept. On that note…
Qualified in 2 Days!
Three of my newest company members had qualified in two days this month. It’s best month-launch so far, I think. To “qualify” a Younique presenter needs to sell 125 PRS which is approximately $125 UK/£85 UK.
Each month, I aim to sell that, but we really only need to sell that in a 90-day period. The good news for us to qualify we can spend the money on ourselves – so for instance, if I were to buy the aforementioned collection, I’d qualify for 90 days. (SeeIf you Love Makeup, Don’t Become a Younique Presenter)! Again though I aim to sell way more than that every month.
Finding Great Staff
It has taken almost a year to attract people to this business that truly love and want to work it and learn as much as they can.
For every ten or so that I’ve recruited, about three have done anything at all with it.
That’s the most challenging aspect of the business – recruiting and having them drop off. I say this because I don’t want people to think this is a get-rich-fast business. Some people do, for sure, but they by far the minority. Younique takes effort, time, persistence, consistency, positivity, passion and resilience. So if you do #jointheAteam or someone else’s you’ll start to see that Younique is not for everyone. So it will be better to focus the energy on the ones who aim to rock it.
Right now I am so proud of my rockstars – Lucy, Kelly and Louise – who are all kicking my @ss in sales so far. At least through the Younique site. I’m doing very well on mascara sales – to both strangers through the site and ordering direct through me.
Wow, just as I am writing this post I sold another set of the 3D Fiber Lashes! Love it when that happens! These 3D Fiber Lashes literally sell themselves. At least for me they do! 11 months on in this business and it gets easier and easier for me but it’s been a very slow build. Some Youniques are the Hare, but I am the Tortoise.
Younique September Kissable Kudos
Just a wee reminder that this month the Kudos are Kiss-tastic. You can get three lip stains and a lip gloss in a bundle as seen in the picture. I personally love the lip stains that I have, and really want the purple one – so may just treat myself. Also in case you’re wondering, my fave Lucrative Lip Gloss is Lavish.
So that wraps up another My Week in Younique I think. I joined October 16th so we’re fast approaching my one-year anniversary of being Younique and I love it more and more as days go by. As I always say “Younique’s not for everyone” but it is for me!
Any questions about the products or joining my team, please feel free to reach out. All details are above or if you’re in the UK ring 0141 416 1492 or in the US 408 353 0434. We can chat, old school!
