NOTE: In the Summer of 2017, these pigments were phased out, and new sort of replacement product was launched: Moodstruck Pressed Shadow Quad Palette  (Single options available too, link below)

Do you love all natural make up and beauty products? Are you always looking for new ways to enhance your face, your skin, your hair or your look? Then these Moodstruck Mineral Pigment Powders are just for you!!

[NOTE: All the tips here should work with the Moodstruck Minerals Pressed Blusher.]

4pigmentset

I recently took advantage of the low set price on the 4 Moodstruck Mineral Pigments before they returned to their normal price. You see, there had been a typo in our last catalog – which Younique honoured (£27/$35) until the new catalog came out at the beginning of March. So anyway – we have 32 colours in all – half are in matte and half shimmer. You can mix the Moodstruck Mineral Pigment Powders to make them darker or lighter, or make up your own different shades, by combining the different powders.

Why not have a bit of fun with them? The world is your oyster here people!

I already had five and then added 4 more (8 pictured here). Can’t wait until I have all 32 myself! (ED NOTE: You can see why I say “If you love makeup, don’t become a Younique presenter eh?)

So, apart from the obvious, intended eye shadow application, what else can you do these all natural pigment powders? Well, lots, actually. In fact, I don’t know if I have ever known a more versatile makeup product in my life, and I keep hearing of new and innovative things people are doing with them. Here are a few suggestions.

Wear Pigments Wet or Dry

For many weeks, when I first received my powders, I just wore them as your basic dry eye shadows. Many of the shades I have chosen go on quite light.Moodstruck Mineral Pigment Powders

Later as I began to experiment making them wet. At first I started to use just normal tap water, and then eventually, once I bought it, I starting using our Refreshed Rose Water (now called Royalty Rose Water Toning Spritz. It makes a super nice eye liner when it’s wet…Especially when combined with the liner  shader brush (which I do recommend you getting).

I’m definitely using the pigments that way more often. Plus if you wanted, you can wear them wet AND dry on different parts of your eye (e.g. wet as under eye liner and dry on the lid itself). Experiment to see what works best for you.

I’ve watched several videos – both tutorials and reviews – on using them both ways. Here’s one that I thought was pretty good – that may help you if you want to experiment a little!

You can also add pigments to your 3D Fiber Lash Mascara and make your eyes pop with colour as well as volume!
Here’s a video about making the 3D lashes brown. These pigments are perfect to experiment with.

pigments2Apply Them to you Face & Lips

The truly revolutionary thing about these Moodstruck Mineral Pigment Powders, to me, is that they can be used elsewhere on your face too. Put some on your cheeks or use them for contouring.

Because they’re naturally based crushed mineral pigments, they can be safely applied to you lips as well.
(Note: The Moodstruck Mineral Pigments contain extracts and amino acids from palm trees, coconuts and contain things like vitamin E and Zinc Oxide. See the full ingredients on this page.)
I quite like to put a little on my lips mixed with one of my glosses (either one of my coloured lip glosses like Loveable, or else I use the clear gloss called Loyal across the top).
You can use as more of a Lip Stick if you want too – simply apply over the top of your lip balm or vaseline. Here’s a decent video that shows a few different colours of the pigment powders being used as a lip stick.

Brighten Up Your Hair with Pigment Powders

Thea weariing Moodstruck Mineral Pigments as hair chalkThe pigment powders can not only add colour to your face but also to your hair. Yes, really. Across Youtube you can find lots of videos of people experimenting with different examples of using the pigments as hair chalk. It’s not a look I’ve ever tried, but I will certainly give it a whirl soon…Will share photos once I do! For now you can watch this video to see how it’s done!Update: I tried it today  – adding a bit of pink to a section of hair. (See my photo).
On a few of the videos I’ve seen soon far, people have wet the hair first with regular tap water, Rose Water or our Glorious Primer…so choose whatever works best for you. (Here’s one video showing mineral pigment chalk on her kid’s hair). Then they applied the minerals – usually just using a brush. Some applied laying the hair out onto a flat surface – using wax paper (or the like) underneath it, and painting it on — but that’s only going to work for those of you who have long hair. (I don’t…)
Finally, some creative types I’ve watched, have then recommend that you use a hair straightener (or perhaps curling iron) to “seal” the pigments into the hair. That seems like it would make sense. It comes out with shampoo on your next wash so feel free to go to town…add a splash of colour or make it a rainbow – the choice is yours!

Nailed it!

As if the eyes, lips, cheeks, and hair weren’t enough, you can also use the pigments as nail colouring – simply mix with a clear or light coloured varnish. A little will go a long way here. If you have a search through Youtube you can find a number of videos of people using the Pigment powders as nail varnish. Some have even used 2 colours to get an Ombre look! It’s definitely something I’m going to try! Will let you know how my results are once I’ve mastered it.

My Week in Younique – March Madness

Kid in a Candy Store - Younique by Thea Collection
Click to buy Kid in a Candy Store: Younique by Thea

Well what can I tell you for this week’s My Week In Younique? March is in full swing, and the first person to get an order in was the lovely Marie! Well, if you don’t count my Kid in a Candy Store (pictured here) purchase for myself!…Marie sold several Lip Stains which is fantastic. Have you used a Lip Stain? I hadn’t. They are – Smudge-proof. Smoochproof. Worry- free. Sadly, I either left my lovely Lip Stain (from the Customer Kudos back in November) in California over the holidays, or I’ve lost it between there and here somewhere.

So frankly my new collection can’t come quick enough. Actually I was sorely tempted to buy the seven Stiff Upper Lip Lip Stains set!  That’s the danger of being a Younique presenter, I tell ya…I blogged about it this weekend already in “If You Love Makeup Don’t Become a Younique Presenter”. As I often say here, I was never a big makeupy person, before and, even I, am totally obsessed with Younique products. It’s crazy-addictive. You’ve been warned!

Thea A-Team Challenges

If you're on social media anyway you may as well #jointheateamWell I promised I would be as transparent as possible as I was documenting my first foray into Direct Sales (MLM) so here goes…I am delighted to have grown a pretty big company in a fairly short space of time. Though I hear other top level presenters talking about how many recruits they have made in just a few months, I do my best to not compare myself to anyone else. I have set my target to grow a big team and all my efforts almost are placed on that. I’m 100% committed to growing my team for a few reasons…

First reason, rather obviously, is that the only way to make any real money in this business is to grow a big team. When I first joined, I heard some stories about one Younique Sponsor having recruited 200 team mates, yet had 21,000 in her downline. When I heard that, I thought, “Ok, that’s my goal”.

Another reason to recruit is because it’s a numbers game in direct sales. Even in this short space of time, I’ve already had one person “drop off” my team because they didn’t qualify. There’s still time for them to re-qualify and they may do so, but what happens is, if you don’t qualify every three months, you’re considered inactive. You still have another 3 more months to get reinstated, so you never know, they may bounce back. In addiction to that one, I have a few more who will be struck off by the end of the month if they don’t miraculously sell their 125 PRS (personal retail sales – which is only around $125 – so 5 mascaras in any 90 day period is all you need to sell really).

I think I mentioned, in a previous blog, a stat that I heard in the early weeks of joining Younique, and that was “20% of your recruits will earn you 80% of your money”. I can see how that would be true or even is true in my case. Only about 20% of my team is doing anything at all. That tells me I need to grow a bigger team and ideally find more people like me (and my 20%) who want to build a proper business. Who want to put in the time to really make a living out of this. Hungry team mates.

Younique is NOT a ‘Get Rich Quick’ Biz

If you want to join Younique to make some fast cash, it’s probably going to disappoint you. It is work for most of us and frankly quite a lot of it! Thankfully I love it so much it doesn’t feel like work, but it’s been a lot of time invested into growing my business, learning as much as I can about the company and direct sales in general, making images to share on social media, blogging, etc. I see the past few months as sowing the seeds, and they’re starting to bloom. I’ve had my first enquiries through this very blog to join my younique team. One person private messaged me on Facebook asking to join! So all my work is starting to potentially pay off. I am happy to be a Younique sponsor to anyone anywhere in theReady to become a Younique Presenter - #jointheAteam UK, North America, Australia, New Zealand and Mexico too (Plus later this year Younique will launch in Germany too!) While I welcome absolutely anyone to #theAteam, as I say, I would specifically love to find dedicated and committed makeup lovers to join the team who want to make this a career!

To Cap Off My Week in Younique!

Black cap, Pink Shirt - Younique By Thea - branded merchandiseWell it’s about time to close for another week, but I will leave with one final, small promotional update…My two baseball hats and pink shirt arrived on Tuesday, I believe. They were made by a company down in England called the Cap Factory

I acquired several quotes for branded baseball hats in Scotland, and they were all coming in pretty expensive for one-offs, but not the Cap Factory. I got them £14.95 (embroidered) each, so I was pretty impressed. The shirt’s so pink it could stop traffic!

One minor complaint was that the bills on the hats are a bit big and wide, but to be fair, I had opted for clearance hats! It meant the quality wasn’t 100% ideal, but as I say, I would definitely order from them again and choose better quality hates!

If you’re looking for branded one-off hats, I recommend you speak to Wendy at the Cap Factory and tell her Thea sent you!

See you next week!

If You Love Makeup, Don’t Become A Younique Presenter!

If You Love Makeup, Don't Become A Younique Presenter! If You Love Makeup, Don’t Become A Younique Presenter!

A Blue Status Younique Presenter and Sponsor in Scotland…Because you may well end up being your own Number One Customer…Well, if you’re anything like me.

Here’s my personal experience of being a Younique presenter and sponsor of late…

I have discovered that Younique products are the makeup equivalent of coffee or for me as a non-coffee drinker, chocolate! (i.e. Totally addictive!!)

Less than six months in, I now have just about all the Younique products that we sell, I think.

Not all colours and shades, but all the products, brushes etc.  (PS: My favourite products are here!)

It’s not that cheap to get them all, let me tell you, but I have been strategic in my purchases and the Younique makeup collections are a great way to go!

My Past Week in Younique

Each week (or so), I do a blog called “My Week in Younique”. The MWY blogs started here and has grown on a weekly basis – documenting my experiences of being a Younique Presenter and Sponsor of a global team,…but this post today is a little different,…It’s about my feeding what, for all intents and purposes, I’d classify is a Younique addiction!

Love Buying Younique Products!Set of 4 Moodstruck Mineral Pigments

Danger danger! As February ended, all I want to do is shop on my own website. Again. So last weekend, because the sale price of the Moodstruck Mineral Pigment set of 4 (update now called Moodstruck Pressed Shadow Refills) – was going back up to its original price (after a catalog misprint last time), I had to buy them.

No, really, I did have to.

The Love it Bundle - Only on Sale in February

Also, even though I already had the makeup, I wanted the cute pink glam bag in the Love it Bundle that was only available during February, well, I had to buy that too.At least I wasn’t the only one who grabbed that cute offer… Younique mailed the other day us to say we sold:

“61,448 of them! That’s more than 2,000 a day…100 per hour…more than a bundle a minute, all month long!”

Fast forward to March. As it kicked off, as you may know, we came out with six new products, and as I didn’t have them, I had to buy them too. Rather aptly named, I purchased the Kid in the Candy Store Collection (no longer available but other Younique collections are always found here:)6newcollections

Do you see how being a Younique Presenter might be a challenge? As most of my friends will attest, I’ve never been a big “makeupy sort person” before joining Younique. (Frankly some old college friends at a New Year’s Eve party shared their absolute “shock” of my new venture because it was so “left field”.) Since joining Younique though. I admit, it’s become a total obsession! I guess as far as addictions go, it’s not a terrible one to have, but still…it’s an addiction none the less.

Yes the makeup’s great, and I genuinely love running my own Younique business, but it does sort of defeat the purpose when you’re running your own business, and seemingly all the money you’re making, you’re just investing back in your own company (e.g makeup collection). Or feeding your addiction! That’ what it feels like I am doing…at times!

My Younique Rationale?

Naturally, addictions aside, if you are going to run a business efficiently, you need to be knowledgable about all the products.

You have to be able to have them, show them, talk about the and, in this business, photograph them (sometimes even on yourself) so it’s pretty easy to rationalize all my makeup purchases each month.

BONUS? The fact that it’s a legitimate tax write-off only adds to the pure joy of running my Younique company. But if you’re a total makeup addict already, this is definitely not going to cure you of your addiction. In fact, you’re probably going to be even more guilty than me of being your own top customer…and hey, if that does describe you, then I’d love for you to #jointheAteam now! 😉

In summary, jokey blog title aside, I have no regrets at all joining Younique so far. Remember, there are much worse addictions out there, so you may as well join me now and have some healthy,Join Younique with Thea Newcomb #theAteam empowering fun playing with, and promoting, makeup across the globe! Right?
